If this virus starts a new spike in the capital, look no further than these morons. Regardless of how genuine their intentions are, this could be a disaster in the making. Surely better ways of trying to get their point across than putting the country at risk.
Just been on the news. Thousands of protestors in Trafalgar square protesting about the George Floyd incident in the US.
I was walking yesterday (alone) and as I went round so e trees I was faced with the largest gathering I've seen for a long time. Enough people that it took me a few seconds to realise there wasn't an organised event going on to be honest. I reckon there was over 40 or 50 people all together and they were clearly together too from how they were interacting. I assume it was a (very) extended family thing as there were a few women with pushchairs, small children, teenagers, adults and elderly people. All together in this one remote area. Anyway I shook my head in disbelief and managed to pick my own path through the trees that avoided them all but it was the most surprised and shocked I've been at seeing such a large number of people for quite a while.
I feel like I'm living in a parallel universe because whenever I've been out and about people have kept to the 2m distance and not been in large groups.
Not on the same scale in terms of number of people but probably similar in terms of disbelief - when we took the dog to the field for her free run this morning there was a group of 10 middle aged, overweight men all in Leeds Rhinos tops meeting up, some with kids in tow. They laid out around 80 cones and started doing a full on training session, right at the very edge of the entrance to the field next to the car park too so everyone going there or leaving had to walk past them. WIthin five minutes of arriving, one of the guys also went and had a pee behind a tree (even though there were kids all around) and then walked back to the group saying 'I got more of it all down me than anywhere else'.
I think generally those who get why it is important are following the advice. There are quite a large minority though who just don't give a damn about anyone else.
Apart from my neighbours who I posted about the other week most have distanced when I've seen them too. A few weeks ago I did see a few people a bit too close together at one local beauty spot but in fairness I think that was simply because they hadn't anticipated the numbers who had the same thought of them, they were clearly trying to stay apart but just not really doing too well. I saw them from a distance so was able to make a turning and avoid them all but I could see how they'd come to be too close and didn't blame them too much. Yesterday though it was ridiculous. That large gathering I saw was the first time in a long time that something has made me stop dead in my tracks and have to think about what was happening. Then on my way back I walked past so many smaller but socially undistanced groups that I realised people had given up. As much as people criticise teens though I've got to say not one group I've seen has been teenagers, they've all been what I would assume are families or groups of families.
Amazing how they use a quiet beach photo to warn people but have no footage from the rammed protests. It's like it's forgiven by the MSM because of the cause behind it.
Was at Rother Valley yesterday, cycling. You wouldn't have known there was a lockdown apart from the signs. I think people were seeing how many they could get inside a 2m radius. Loads of teenagers and boy racers 5 to a car.
