Although the Josh Scowen one is still difficult to make happen due to Sunderland being League One and everyone still on furlough
Because he needs permission from Sunderland to do the interview. Their view is that it could be seen as media duties and they're not letting any players do that, as they're all on furlough. That's my understanding anyway
Makes sense. I think they're wrong with their thought process as him doing an interview solely to barnsley fans doesn't benefit Sunderland at all but I can see why they think that at least.
Would tend to agree. But as it's unchartered territory I imagine the easiest course of action is to blanket ban everything.
Neil Thompson - how does he feel being a manager is going and what lessons did he learn from managers he'd played under
To Neil. Did he have the choice to stay when we were in the premier league or was the loan decision made for him? Does he think he would have made a difference to our season had he stayed? To Josh. When his dad posted on social media did he ever wish he would stop or did he like that he was saying thinks that he couldn't?
For Neil: what was the secret behind being such a brilliant penalty taker ? ( e.g loads of practice or something that came naturally) Awesome player by the way and was a massive part of our promotion team, just seemed like such a natural footballer so that’s part of why I would be interested in his answer to the penalty taking question.
Bit shifty that professional football clubs especially the size of Sunderland are furloughing players. Did Josh want to move back to London if so what’s changed now that he’s decided to go to Sunderland?
I think he's only on a short term contract at Sunderland. Doesn't seem to have played much from what I can gather.
Signed for an undisclosed fee and a longish term contract (18 months in their favour). Was only the end of January when he signed for them and football stopped two months later. They'd hit some form when he signed so he sat the first couple of weeks out, but has still played four games.
I saw Neil score an incredible goal at Oakwell. He was to the left, just forward of the halfway line and he volleyed what can only be described as a " screamer" into the net on the Ponte end of the ground. I can't remember who it was against. Looking at the fixtures for that season, it was either in a 3-0 win against Stoke in the September of 1996, or the 4-0 drubbing of Charlton in the April of 1997. Does he remember it and was it the best goal he ever scored in his career.?
One for Josh. If he had been offered a new and improved contract after the play off final against Millwall at Wembley, would he have signed it.?
Cheers Bruner. That's the one. Absolutely brilliant goal. We were on the Ponte terrace for that game. Always remember some fans roundabout started ducking as the ball flew towards us. Second best goal I've ever seen live at Oakwell, Barnies volley against Huddersfield Town being the best of course.
It's good to hear from Neil, one of the most underrated players to pull on a Reds shirt. I'm always surprised how few games he actually played with us, it felt like 50+ - How's the career as an after-dinner speaker shaping up? - How do you think about your time at Barnsley? (Neil's presence on social media is entirely Ipswich-centric) - What was your better performance at Old Trafford - losing 9-0 with Ipswich or 7-0 with Barnsley? - How many points are Sheffield Wednesday going to get docked? - Would he accept the Head Coach job with Barnsley?
Not sure how you would word it, but would be interested to know how a player copes with going from the highs of winning promotion to the PL to being loaned out to a Div 2 team in such a short time. I’m guessing the fact Oldham were big favourites etc for promotion may of helped.
