Well it'll be interesting going forward, will we see legal challenges? Will EFL hand out punishments for FFP rules being broken before the restart? How many players will end up with career affecting or ending injuries during the ultra crammed fixture period? How many players will be unable to play during the month due to Covid?
Reason I think the teams in League 1 and 2 will vote to play-on is no club will want to be responsible for another's relegation through voting. The same applies to promotion issues and placings etc.
I'm glad we're playing on. Granted it looks like we'll be relegated but at least it will be on the football field instead of a courtroom or statisticians office.
I think you will find any club not in the bottom 4 of each those divisions will happily vote to end the season now. Especially when they are still going to have promotion and play offs etc.
What about the likes of Peterborough who would miss out on the play-offs or those in with a shout of making them?
It will only be the teams in relegation places (unless they’ve given up hope anyway) and those that aren’t in the play-offs but could possibly still get there that will want to carry on, which won’t be the 51% needed.
Wycombe in 8th will vote to end the season. PPG bumps them up to 5th where they will play the play offs despite voting to end. Bonkers.
Sounds as though the play-offs for League One & Two will start as soon as next week. Crazy considering they’re still not back in training (I don’t think?).
And why is the protocol about playing on different in the Championship when most clubs don't want to (I thought)?
I never understood that. The vote went to all 71 clubs who unanimously voted to curtail the season. Except the Championship. So vote counted except when it didn't? Why have the vote?
the championship can monetise the product via sky and I Follow. L1 and 2 as a general rule dont have the same appeal.
The teams who would end up in the play offs got tested and resumed training last week. The EFL already knew what would be voted for today.
