..one aspect of playing the remaining matches behind closed doors may help us. I am referring to the referees who seem to be influenced by home crowds when it comes matches involving the Reds (except, of course, when we are playing at Oakwell). Generally though, I think we often see 'iffy' decisions where weak refs seem to respond more readily to the home crowd reaction and award decisions in the home teams favour. That of course is no longer an influencing factor for the rest of this season..
They were reckoning initially that advantage would be for the away teams and it certainly looks that way judging by the scores.
Very good point. The baying of the home hordes is a double edged sword, sometimes encouraging players and sometimes unsettling them. As for referees though, it's obvious that they are influenced by the home crowd. Not just when we are playing either.
The mental side of breaking the season when we were struggling can also be a help. Reset button has been pushed and they essentially have an 8 game season Better that way than being on a run and having it cut short.
I'm sure I read an interview with Mowatt talking about the lack of fans maybe helping the younger players who have at times had the 'fans' on their back
Got to be bad for someone who was on a losing run before the break and then comes back and loses again too. At least mentally as you say it’s like a new mini season.
hull away to brum. boro away to stoke. we got millwall home all next. a win would be awesome. **** em all up
I agree but a lot of them are still incompetent. Did anyone else see that bit where Ludwig was absolutely nowhere near their player, who went flying, and they got a foul instead of us getting a corner? Hopefully you’re right though and there’s no pressured decisions from the refs.
