Given that he was involved on the pitch on Saturday wouldn't it have been wise to have given Dougall a month's extension until the end of the season? We may have offered and he turned down? Or is he going back home to the A-League or something? I can understand Radlinger given we have Collins and Walton, Pinillos in that he has been totally out of the picture for a good while and Thiam who is now probably just a Hattersley-sized tub of lard locked down in 'Kebab Land'.
The players that think it's just a job are the worst types. They do their best but nothing more. They're the types that go looking at the league table when you're 3-0 up. I always thought Dougall cared myself.
I don’t know about his love for the club but I think Dougall’s a huge player in the dressing room & seems to be involved in all the banter on social media & it was reported a few weeks ago that he was the player doing the negotiating about the team potentially taking pay cuts during the period we weren’t playing. Where as I got the impression Thiam & Pinillos we’re outsiders I think Dougall’s a significant loss
Struber has used Mowatt there (rightly or wrongly) and Halme has put in better performances than Dougall in that position this season. I also wonder if the club are looking at Matty Wolfe to feature this 'seaso'n? If we'd hinted to Dougall that he wasn't getting his contract extended then I can see why he wouldn't sign for an extra month. Why risk injury and the potential of being out of a job for a year?
Perhaps get in the shop window to catch someones eye so you can put food on the table - all these matches are on video. He might also get his hair dyed brilliant white too just so he stands out in a crowd.
Shame about Dougall, but like others have said he wasn’t the same after his injuries. Unlike many I was a fan of Thiam, always felt he had the ability to do something special every so often but I’ll be honest he did have a lot of weak points. Not surprised about Pinillos, but it’s annoying he wasn’t given a chance this season, especially when the defence were giving mistakes away every a game at one point. As for Radlinger, it’s probably the right decision in all honesty. After the first game of the season against Fulham I thought we’d successfully replaced Davies but after then his performances seemed to deteriorate, he’d let in easy goals or make silly mistakes. He’s also very injury prone and with Collins and the emergence of Walton I think the goalkeeper position is pretty much covered.
Maybe he doesn't need a shop window? And what use is a shop window if it crocks you and scuppers your next two year deal? I'm sure his agent has been touting him around for months based on this eventuality. But alas, this is all pure speculation and guess work.
Judging by his barnet he could open a salon when the lock down ends. It's a look that a lot seem to like these days.
As most have said no great surprises there. Disapponted about Dougall but he hasnt really featured since he broke his leg and when he has he hasnt impressed so can understand it. Same goes for Bird - I thought he looked to have potential - but now dropped out of contention so sad but no great shock. Pleased we haven't kept Radlinger - I wondered if we might- I think we are fine with Collins and Walton
Very true, but lets not forget the squad has underperformed and struggled in alot of games this season. Even If we manage to retain our championship status many players in that squad still arent good enough for this division. We need some quality additions to compliment the high potential youngsters we have.
Dougall was our best performer last season before his injury at Shrewsbury away he ran the show then upon his return breaking his leg at Donny resulted in him missing this seasons pre-season. He's then been a fringe player and hasn't had the opportunity to get a run of games under his belt which has probably been down to the fact there's been others available that are match fit . I really feel we are making a huge mistake here if we do go down a full pre season would do him the world of good and he'd of been like a new signing easily good enough for league one.
You don't need to be any great shakes in League 1. As we've proven over the years. It's just application. Agree about Dougall but if we can't find a replacement at League 1 level with our resources we want to pack in.
Seems a regular thing for BFC get a great player (Anderson, Muller, Butterfield, Hume) then they get a career stalling injury.
The retained list simply means players still under contract. Doesn’t mean they’ll all be here come next season (whenever that might be).
