Let’s be realistic no way are Wigan going to finish in the bottom three before a points deduction so the penalty will be applicable this season. Therefore if we need to win at least three of our remaining games then they will need to win at least four of theirs to avoid being relegated.

Thinking about it like that it's a big ask knowing you "have" to win 4 matches from six. Where as we have to win 3 from 6. It's a loose figure for us unless it's the last three

If we stay within 12 of them it just means more eyes will be on 22nd spot.

It's the behind the scenes staff at Wigan that I feel for.

And their supporters - both of 'em :D

Would make for a good episode of "Can't Pay? We'll Take Him Away" - Chien needs to get a High Court ruling and send Stuart and Vic round!

The downside to the points deduction of course is that when we play them on the 11 th July
and for their other remaining games, they will fight like tigers to ensure they get the points,
in an effort to neutralise the effect of the 12 points deduction come the end of the season.

Also hoping that the fate of Leeds, Forest and Brentford is a lot clearer by the time we play
them, because they might take their foot off the gas or rest players. Ideally, we could do with
Leeds and Brentford being in the automatics with Forest in the play offs. West Brom would have
to consolidate their position in the play offs and still have to play Hull and Huddersfield, so that
    could benefit us.

I'm not sure how I view the "it's the fans I feel for" argument.

Look at Bolton 2 years ago - we went down, they stayed up. They broke every financial rule in the book and plenty of the fan base were complete cnts about it.

I've no idea if Wigan are they same - but if they are, then fck them. If they aren't, then it's the fans I feel for.

Don’t get all this. Feel sorry for em cos of the covid.
We are all in the same boat. Don’t spend more than you can afford.
Irrespective. They’ve lost millions year on year. Not just this.
Lots of our own fans have blabbed on about our finances. Not throwing caution to the wind. On here especially.
Used to feel sorry for fans and to a degree. still do. But you reap what you sow.
    12 points minimum no excuses.
Wonder if Rooney is still having his wages paid by bet 365. While all the punters are out of work or furloughed. Football finances stink.

Yes, football finance exists and is not too different to how you describe it, generally only available to Prem and Championship clubs. Loan is made to the selling club secured against future payments from the buying club, football debtors (i.e. selling clubs) are always a priority debt so even in cases like Wigan the money is found to settle transfers eventually.
