It's been announced that Prince Andrew is stepping back from public duties for the foreseeable future. Breweries up and down the land are not planning to change pubs called the Duke of York to the Fiddlers Arms.!
Didn't know he did any public duties....he only appears at weddings, funerals, remembrance day and 2 for 1 days at Pizza Express. Wonder if he'll stop getting public money
Reading today that he is connected to over 192 organisations. Quite a number are looking at dumping him. As for any income, he sold his former home for £15 million and the Queen gives him circa £250k per year. He's apparently got a holiday home in some exotic location and that's worth around £9 million. Not had any money that he's earned to support himself since he left the Navy in 2001.
This is just from my experience, I'm not taking sides. My position is that I don't particularly like Prince Andrew and I'm not a royalist, but neither am I a rampant republican. I see benefits to the country from them being in situ, but don't believe in hereditary titles or that one person is worth more than another. Have you ever been interviewed with a camera pointed in your face? Or in the case of the Prince Andrew interview, four cameras, I think, plus lighting personnel, director, producer, interviewer, various technical staff, and with such a high profile interviewee, lawyers, PAs, hangers on... People in the public eye get used to it, but despite his position, he's not really. He was only interesting when Fergie was with him. I've been interviewed that way hundreds of times, because setting up such interviews was my job. It's daunting. I've seen the most confident, charismatic people simply fall apart. I've seen people appealing for the safe return of their children, look for all the world like they murdered them when put in front of the camera. They didn't. Absolutely not. But I would have convicted them based on the interview they gave. And that was my fault. I didn't put them at ease, I didn't explain how best to act, how best to react, where to look, what to do with their hands, how to control their voice, how to look innocent in front of a judgemental and uneducated audience. The viewer. The Prince Andrew interview would have been entirely different. What a scoop to get him. And for every second he's there I would be putting him on edge: Tight schedule, no time for make up, don't be nervous, I'm sure you'll be fine, subtle psychological cues to unnerve him, keep him off guard, don't let him think so he has to give honest answers but basically fkuc him up in front of camera. Judge him on what happened, not that interview, it's a game and he lost.
The FBI have stated that Epstein recorded hours of footage in all the rooms of his house using sophisticated equipment. He once confided to someone he did so as an "insurance policy". Apparently the tapes have been found in a safe at one of his properties and the FBI now intend to view them to help them to progress their enquiries.
I bet they wont make the contents known of them all. There'll be some minnows get banged to rights and others that will mysteriously disappear.
Agree Helen. Since he claimed he had been at Pizza Express with his daughter, I've been expecting the Head of the Royal Protection Squad to say they have found the notebooks of the officers who accompanied him on the day and they confirm his story. All records have to be kept for thirty years, so those notebooks have to be somewhere in their system.
It's just been on the News that despite his insistence in his November interview that if required he was " willing to help" FBI agents investigating his paedophile pal Jeffrey Epsteins sordid antics , he has hitherto ignored all requests to be quizzed over his links. New York lawyer Geoffrey Berman said " its fair for people to know whether Prince Andrew has followed through with that public commitment. To date, he has provided zero cooperation". A spokesperson for the Protection team who guard the Royal family has also said they are not prepared to give information to back his claims he was at Pizza Hut with his daughter on the date he's alleged to have been with Virginia Giuffre which only adds to widespread suspicion that he is being liberal with the truth.
One of the lads I now work with was the queens steward on the royal yacht and the military staff hated him, so much that when they were dining the royals, Andrew's steak more often than not got slapped around the urinal before delivering it to him, even the Royals were not that fond of him, a horrible man by all acounts
FBI have announced they've arrested Ghislaine Maxwell in connection with the accusations she was involved in procuring minors for Prince Andrews friend Epstein. Be very interesting to see where the enquiry goes from here.
Different bloke then. My mate was definitely on the Royal Yacht though. I'll ask him if there was an Ozzy on there with him. Be 20/25 years since he was in the forces I think.
God no but lets just say your tax pound was funding a very active prince in his main ambition. This was after the falklands the "invince" had a 8 month far east/ aus trip, which was very agreeable with officers and men alike, inpaticular the resident royal.
