Since returning from the lockdown, Wigan have accumulated 9 points from three games, Barnsley & Charlton 7, Luton 5, Hull 4, Huddersfield & Middlesbrough 3, Stoke 1.

That's a fair point actually regarding direct rivals back in Jan. Hadn't thought of that - fair play.

    Don't be a penis though.

We are a player trading entity first and a football club who wants to achieve second.

It isn't that hard to stand in a box offside and somehow get played onside by poor defending. I could do that, maybe even get lucky like Wilks..

There was zero outrage when we let him go on loan to Hull and the permanent transfer shouldn't even be taken into consideration.

We sent him there in the New Year in good faith knowing he wasn't good enough to play our style of footy..

If it hadn't been for covid19 he would have played that match today for Hull as part of his original loan anyway. So when we agreed that deal it was fantastic news for us getting him off the books, and still is.

People saying we should not have let him go are completely missing that point. It borders on cheating if we had refused to let him leave. I prefer us to act with integrity.

    You reds!

Hands up if if you’d rather kept Wilks on the payroll at the expense of not bringing in Ritzmaier?

I don't know, but we all know that we work to a tight budget. We brought in Sollbauer, Ritzmaer and Ludewig, so something had to change to balance things up. We failed to offload Pinillos and Thiam, so something else was needed. I reckon Wilks was part of balancing the books. Pure guesswork, of course.

No, at least Ritzy makes an effort..
May not be upt this level yet, but Wilks was terrible.

I like Wilks. I would have liked to have seen him in his best position, in a system that suited him, and with a manager that was willing to give him a decent run. But that kind of generosity can't be afforded while the team is in a relegation scrap. So overall, although Ritz has his weak points, I'm happy for Struber to stick to his guns and keep playing him. Ritz gives us more structure.

Stop mixing your personal journal entries with posts on here. Haha

Think the biggest point here is that we had already agreed he would be there all season. Only covid messed up his potential return date so he would have scored that goal anyway..maybe..lol

    Touche.

Let's just agree that if we win our games we'll be ok.

I've just thought that had Huddersfield lost at Brum and Hull and Middlesbrough drew we might have gone into the Stoke game thinking we've just taken 7 points we're nailed on to win.

Now we go into a must not lose going all out for the win but happy to take something as it's better than nothing.

No chance of being caught in two minds now.

I was hoping either for a draw (preferred), or a Boro win. IMHO Hull look doomed still and Boro will wonder how on earth they didn't win that game. They played the only football throughout and looked well in control throughout. I think that Boro will be safe if they keep playing like that, but Hull looked hopeless, even though they fluked a win from a game in which they were battered for most of the time. Wilks has won the free-kick from which Kane scored and got a good striker's goal at the end from one of the few chances Hull had. He still looked off the pace and, if he gave the same effort with us, he wouldn't get a kick. It seems odd to have sold him, but I presume that Hull already had an option and, at the point he joined them, no one saw them as relegation rivals. I hope that we recouped most of the million plus, but guess that we will never know. Hull are doomed, even after that win. If Kane is injured, that's a key player down. Keep the faith. COYR.
