True. But the seller receives the money straight away (from the mortgage lender) rather than instalments. You won’t find any bank loaning a club money to directly purchase footballer though. I’ve never heard of a bank repossessing a footballer! What a can of worms that would be.
Wouldn’t that imply that the bank somehow “owned” the player, which I think is not allowed (banned). Wasn’t there some recent issues with agents attempting to hold part shares in players?
It sounds like EFL are setting something up definitely . Quote I wasn’t aware I was being taped by a Wigan Fan I don’t know who though “ Yeah right Rick you just mouth off private buisness to anyone right ? Another sell out coming this way
Wigan will get away scot free with the EFL taking the opportunity to come across all "caring" by saying this wouldn't have happened if Wigan hadn't lost the gate money from having to play behind closed doors as they would have had money in the bank 3 months ago!
I would expect our owners to take legal action if the EFL do not apply the rules properly. It is about time the EFL were taken to task and forced to reform because, in my opinion, they are not fit for purpose right now.
Not sure the EFL have the power to over turn the rules TBH. My understanding is all the Chairmen vote on setting the rules, the EFL then are supposed to police and enforce those rules. I would expect at best they will amend rules moving forward.
Very interesting development regarding Rick Parry being filmed discussing Wigans administration rumours. Wigan Athletic: EFL chairman Rick Parry secretly filmed discussing Wigan rumours https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53261368
I don’t get this betting scandal thing. What would have been the odds for Wigan relegation? And who would have taken a bet big enough to make it worth putting Wigan into admin? The stake must have been monumental. It’s not a tenner on a million-to-one shot.
We shouldn’t assume that this 12 point deduction will become reality. Tweet below from the guy that (allegedly) has quashed the charges that Wednesday were facing.
It's all shaping up to be an amazing story. Cutting through the international intrigue, this is a club that has lived well beyond its means for many years. How a club can be deemed well run and yet still need regular sizeable interventions of money to cover up it's losses I don't know. Perhaps Wigan athletic fans have just become habituated to the club having a magic money tree when the rest of us have to accept hard decisions with good players leaving on a regular basis. But deepest sympathies for ending up with a current set of owners. I hope they survive and have better times but 12 points should be coming their way.
It would be harsh on every other club who has had points docked for going into administration. And it would go against efl rules cant see them getting the points deduction dropped.
I dont see the logic that guy is using the penalty for going into administration is 12 points I dont see a qualification that applies only if owners did their best to use the fact the owners are bent to get them of the charge is just bizarre
If there is a case for them not to forfeit points then the EFLs faceless board who gave the green light should be named and blamed sacked and shamed .
I don’t get it either. Surely foul play from owners is a cause for a further deduction, not removing the deduction. Makes no sense to me.
