They’re clearly doing this so they can blame the public.

Because they can open at 6am doesnt mean they will.

Can you off hand think of a pub in Mansfield or Barnsley that will open its doors at 6am?

Barring a few old school boozers near the markets in London I am struggling.

First pub open will be the 'Spoons at 8am. Maybe the Courthouse. But then thats the usual opening time for those establishments.

Rest in town seem to be 10/11/12 before they open their doors.

I heard a hairdresser in Cornwall is opening at 1 minute past midnight tomorrow. Her use of english left a bit to be desired however, she used "ourselves" in the context of "ourselves will be following the new safety regulations. Why do people not use simple personal pronouns like, I, me, you, we and us?

So much outrage over this and it won't make a blind bit of difference. Most of the pubs near me aren't even opening at all tomorrow let alone at 6am.

Technically the 4th is midnight. Will any pubs flout the rules?

Airport pubs are generally open all hours - although not too much air travel at the moment. Railways might be the same, so St Pancras station could have open bars at that time for the Eurostar departures....

Can't think of any normal pubs daft enough to open that early.

It's about the implication as much as the substance - it carries a suggestion that the government approves of everyone going for a massive all dayer

You're not flouting the rules if your license says you can serve alcohol after midnight.

BrewDog are opening three bars at midnight for beer and food 'classes'. Only 35 people per bar, you have to be an Equity for Punk, and all profits are going towards Hospitality Union.

    Exactly.

On average only 6/10 pubs are opening tomorrow. Lots of big chains bringing back pubs in clusters so each can learn from the next, some refusing to open tomorrow as they either don't want any idiots or they want to be able to bed in the new guidelines on a quieter day.

Being able to open at 6am vs. actually opening at 6am are two different things. For some pubs/restaurants those hours are just the norm.

That's why the 6 am rule (or is it a guideline) has been introduced, so they can't open tonight.

Ahhhhh. Is that true? Haven't read the detail fully but assumed it was more about giving all pubs 6am licenses rather than taking valid licensed hours away from pubs
