We have been in the bottom three since losing at home to Leeds in September. That's almost a WHOLE season

That 2-0 defeat on the 15th September saw us drop from 21st to 22nd and we have not climbed above that position since, with far too many weeks seeing us 23rd or 24th. Any outsider would look at that and say that we have no hope at all of surviving, and they might be right.

On the other hand things have changed dramatically at Oakwell in recent months and, but for other teams around us winning as well, we would be further up the table by now. Current form certainly suggests we have enough to get out of trouble but then Huddersfield go and win away at Brum and Hull fluke a last minute winner against Boro.

It's obvious that we cannot rely on other teams doing us a favour, unless of course the Owls and a couple of others get hammered with points deductions to push us artificially up the league. I predict that won't be necessary though. I hate to jinx it but I think we will get 4, or even 6, points from these next two games and that should see us out of the bottom three. Then our momentum will keep us above the line.

Looking at our final 3 games I fear we need at least 6 points from the next 3.

On a positive not win today and were out of the bottom 3 with Wigan's points deduction that will kick in at the end of season.

We often beat Forest at home . We're due something at Elland Road and definitely OVERDUE a home win against Wigan (no wins in five played).

    We'll be fine :D

Another stat from this season we haven’t won a game after conceding first.

Yes but I like to look at the table after a match and SEE us above that line. They're not going to take the points of them until season's end are they?

If we win and results go our way, there’s an outside chance we can be out the bottom 3 on goal difference by tomorrow night

No but it's still going to happen the efl are seeing what total they end up on if they would be in the bottom 3 without the points deduction they get the deduction next season in league one.

5 I think, which isn’t that big if you think about it, we win by 2 clear goals, they lose by 3, neither is unfeasible.
TBH I’d be happy with a 1-0 win

As far as I’m concerned we are already relegated.
And over the season we deserve to be.
It’s been a shambles this season that only recently looks like being turned around.
I believe what we are seeing now is what the directors hoped to see a round Christmas time.
That is to say - the team going through a bit of turmoil that would eventually rectify itself a round Christmas.
    It hasn’t happened like that.
But a fantastic effort from Struber and the team in recent weeks.

Don’t think any team in the bottom 3 can say they deserve to be relegated when the league places are so tight with so many games to go.

We're undoubtedly poor on that front, but even West Brom, who are the best ranked team in terms of points after conceding first, are W6, D6, L6 after giving away the first goal. Leeds have only won once after conceding the first goal. Just goes to show how important it is. Now we've tightened up at the back we have a better chance of taking points.

    Stats here: https://www.soccerstats.com/table.asp?league=england2&tid=m

    When we've scored first we're

    W10
    D4
    L2

I feel like we deserve to benefit from a Leeds United bottle job for once. Forest might be guaranteed a playoff spot by then and resting players. Same with Brentford too on the last day.

Luton and Stoke are huge games. And then the Wigan game ......... who knows what mindset they'll be in. Normally your fans and the crowd would snap you out of any naivety or lack of motivation, but behind closed doors you're relying on yourself and yourself only.

Or we could be playing an already promoted team and 2 that already made the playoffs?

That’s hopefully the case. It leeds are promoted you’d hope they’d take the foot off the gas. At the same time you’d expect forest and Brentford to rest players if they’ve secured the play offs.

The fact that they deliberately kept it away from the first team (coaches and players) before Stoke would suggest they have that fear too.
