As Ive said in the past we were up for sale but we weren't up for sale.

What I mean is I can come on here and tell the BBS that I want to sell my house. But if I don't put it on Rightmove, don't advertise the fact, and don't make any attempt to actually let people outside of the BBS know I want to sell my house then I think it will take quite a long time to sell. In fact I know it will because it's about 5 years since I made a post saying my house is for sale and I've not had a single bid.

I don't think Patrick wanted to sell. Or at least not actively wanted to. I think if a super fan with a huge amount of money came in willing to pay him a load for the club he'd have sold but I don't think he was as bothered about selling as he told fans he was. Being a reluctant 'custodian' bought him a lot of slack with a lot of people that being a willing owner would not.. We did have a small number of people approach him during the time though and he waved them all away.

I don't think it's any coincidence that he sold the club when he did. The man was sadly dying, he knew he was. He was desperate to sort things out before he ran out of time. He had a son who said he didn't want to take over the club so what choice did he have? When he got a bid come in that would repay all of his money that he'd put in and get money for the family he loves I think his hand was forced. I think that had he been so ill a few years earlier when a different group were wanting to buy the club that he'd have sold to the too. Understandably it's a lot easier to be picky when you have no reason to rush than when you do.

In short, we did have a small number of bids previously, this shower just got lucky with their timing

Stendel was like a lot of people in football when it starts to go wrong , in part due to his tactics and poor performance he looked to a damage limitation strategy for his own career and played the media game against his employers whilst talking to other clubs . He took his eye off his job , there was no analysis of his own mistakes , in pursuit of a new job .

Yes officially he was sacked for breaching it months earlier. In reality he had given them a legitimate reason to sack him which they sat on and utilised when his criticism got too strong for them

    Proof is in the pudding.
The directors are floundering - they think they are cute - in reality they are out of their depth.
Stendel didn’t help - because he thought the directors didn’t help him as much as they should have.
Struber has tried his best to pick up the pieces - his team have never lost the urgency to fight.

    Three seasons.
    Two relegations.
    One promotion.
    That takes some doing.

Despite the obvious and catastrophic failures for which the Board are clearly responsible - errors they fail to acknowledge or apologise for - fault also lies with the coaching staff and players.

Voldemort is out of his depth. His diamond is in reality cheap glass - and equally as robust. His signings - Solly apart - have been poor. Decent as Solly’s been, there must surely have been plenty of experienced central defenders available without having to go to Central Europe to get one. His team selections are baffling, as is his insistence on playing so many players out of position or in roles which are clearly alien to them. His policy of picking his mates week after week stinks - and it doesn’t work. My grandmother could deliver a better free kick than Ritzy - and she’s been dead for nearly forty years. If Cam McGeehan isn’t a better player, I’ll show my ar$e on the Town Hall steps.

The rest of the coaching staff also must take some responsibility for this shambles. What exactly do they do on the training pitch? Put down the iPad and get them working on free kicks.

And finally the players. Those on duty today who went missing for long periods of the game should be ashamed, as should those who failed to break sweat (or get their shirt dirty, Patrik). Lesson number one before you’re allowed to wear the famous red shirt: we were called Battling Barnsley for a reason. Have you put in the effort Rimmo, Redders, Macca or Big Winny would have expected of you? In today’s parlance, they would have provided open and honest feedback to you, clearly and concisely.

I’d go with that if he hadn’t selected a passenger (Ritzmaier) in every game since lockdown. Obvious to everyone he has contributed nothing.

It is - especially being a Barnsley fan.
Which is strange when our directors have continually used words like:
    Establish
    Stability

Maybe that's because we did as did most people who had a slight bit of championshipb football knowledge. As for the old chestnut they wanted to go blah blah blah well that maybe true and maybe our wonderful boards members were powerless to stop them however they did set the selling prices which most fans think we're too low when compared with what other clubs get for their players. They also had full control over the recruitment policy and that was a complete disaster. You said stendel said he was happy with the players signed maybe he was but he also said on numerous occasions he needed experience in the squad the board chose to ignore those pleas completely. So no I don't agree this disaster is down to the former manager the blame for it lies fairly and squarely with the board and their best transfer window ever!!!!!

I have simply offered an alternative viewpoint to yours, that's all. I've also done it without resorting to making derogatory comments towards others who disagree with my opinion

Just out of interest, where's the evidence that Stendel broke his contract?

Anyone got a link or source?

A lot of people getting annoyed about this thread and jumping to a defensive point of view in relation to Stendel. My opinion is worth nothing, but I think we could all agree on:

    - Stendel did not help Barnsley FC with some of the kamikaze football we played
    - The board didn't help Stendle in their recruitment of too many inexperienced players
    - Struber should have been appointed earlier. The points per game show this would have benefited us
    - The board should have been more flexible with their recruitment philosophy e.g. Sollbauer

Any impact on any of the above points improves our season and likely keeps us up
