Look how bad we are. We have one decent forward at the club, and regardless of where he is playing he is clearly out of form. Our next best option is to put a centre half up front because he's tall.
The problem with Woodrow ........ is Brown. Presumably Brown is brilliant in training - and because of that he is retaining his place as a striker. But if you watch recent matches most attacks break down when they get to Brown. Brown is neither a striker or a winger - at best he’s a full back. Training is obviously important but what happens in a match is more important. Brown has to be dropped and Chaplin and Woodrow must start as our first two strikers.
Like the team, Woodrow has started the games brightly but faded. I still wouldn't have taken him off though as he is capable of getting a goal out of nothing and it felt to me that our chances of getting a win yesterday reduced significantly when he was withdrawn. Our overall issue is we don't have any players (except Sollbauer) who can give a consistent level of performance within a game, nevermind over a series of matches. Every time I see the team Struber has selected i question it, but in all honesty I wouldn't know who to pick because you can't really hang your hat on any of them.
From memory this season we have started lots of games on the front foot and looked good for about 15/20 minutes of games but as usual we never make it count with a early goal and then start to run out of ideas.
Our of form? Nah, he's not even trying. I'd say his head is elsewhere (probably got a new club lined up) , doesn't want to play for us and his attitude is embarrassing.
Woodrow and halme up front 4 4 fkin 2 and just hammer balls relentlessly ino the box route one all game. Mabe even stick chaplin up there too for the second ball scraps and sod the midfield off. Lol complete change of tact. Theyre expecting tippy tappy ballax and they get a dave basset long ball outfit just out for the result. Just wondering who could be vinny? I dont think we have anyone nasty enuff in there?
Leeds match will be a different sort of game to the last 3. They will come out of the blocks to attack us. Being defensively sound is the most important in my book. I'd be more inclined to play Halme in the defensive midfield role. He'd still be in the box at both ends for corners & free kicks. We don't play wingers, so other than those, there aren't crosses to get on the end of. If we can hold out for 60 minutes they will get nervous & we might nick one. A bit of pace could be the answer up top. Chaplin or Brownie maybe to nick one.
Thought we could only play returning loan players in exceptional circumstances, i.e everyone else is injured? I don’t think us being crap will qualify as exceptional enough for the efl to ratify that.... We can name a full squad with what we have, so he can’t play. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53187394
He's been playing upfront recently, and looks ineffective and disinterested. Wouldn't be surprised if he's got a move lined up for the end of the season.
Totally agree with going with a defensive set up against Leeds. We could get hammered and that would destroy whatever's left of the players confidence. We'll not be able to stop Leeds scoring, but a draw or narrow defeat is better than a trouncing. It's now a very slim chance of survival, but we may need to win the last two games.
Haven't we had u23s that have not played a league game sat on the bench for us? Woolfe and Marsh? Think Miller and Jordan Green might qualify, if we wanted them to.
No guts no glory on this one I'm afraid. Even if we go down, going for a win against Leeds is a must for me.
Too late now. Should have been dropped a few games before but realistically do you see anyone coming in and doing any better in a team that doesn’t create too much to feed off.
