1/ Stop selling the talent we find
2/ If ya do sell, sell at TOP dollar after yve had some benefit from it
3/ Don't buy 12 players, buy 6 better players for more
4/ If ya rule is only sell with one year left, stick to YOUR rule and make it clear to players
5/ Stop treating ya fan base like mushrooms ya feed sh*t to

( note point 2.. Dyche was on sports radio yesterday and said the cheap days are over, if ya go to Luton for a player today they want £10m )
( note point 4, other clubs tell players, No ya can't go )

Reight rant over nah ya can tell me am talking sh*te

Think a lot of fans understand and to an extent agree to the need of selling players regular to keep us as a sustainable outfit.
Think equally a lot people’s issues are not that we sold the four in the Summer (although would have preferred to keep) but for how much. That leads me to a question I can’t recall anyone asking, who sets the prices to sell a player?
I’m guessing the universal answer will be the board, but they must be getting advise from somewhere?

Agree with every word but you'll still get the "but they wanted to go" excuse from the boards cheer leaders the board are running the club like a discount supermarket pile em high sell em cheap that's why we buy 12 cheap options and not six more expensive ones. There's no other club in the championship that would have accepted just £3 million for Pinnock and some L1 clubs wouldnt have either one being Peterboro for example.

We've always sold the odd player when the club needed to but we got good money most of the time £1.5 million for Carl Tyler back in the 90s for example. The problem most fans have is at the moment it appears the club keep getting shafted by Players their agents and the buying clubs and the board just keep letting it happen. I cant though in nearly 50 years of supporting Barnsley FC remember the club allowing a successful squad to be ripped apart and replaced with such inferior replacements.

They didn't learn much from relegation in the Morais era did they so why should this time be any different. Plus there is no guarantee we will bounce back next season and maybe a few after that....look at Sunderland or Portsmouth or Ipswich etc

Basically you want an owner who was born in Barnsley a life long season ticket holder and a billionaire who will chuck all his money at the club .

No I want owners who listen to people who know what they are talking about and doesn't blindly stick to a recruitment policy that just about everybody was telling them would back fire. I want owners that if they need to sell a player get top money for them not just bend over meekly and wait to be shafted. I don't care if are owners are from Dodworth Cudworth or outer Mongolia I just want them to be interested in progressing the club on the pitch not just interested selling assets at the first sign of a bit of profit..

Like I say who is advising on prices of players and whats a good offer etc.
It cant be the Owners surely, even if they wanted to sell at first sign of profit, it stands to reason they still want to get best price.

I feel its actually quite an important question to the conundrum of our Owners intentions, if they are deciding then it is probably the clearest indicator that its about a quick profit, in turn if it is someone else giving bad advise then there is some real hope.

There's only hope if they stop listening to the bad advice, I'd be interested in who the advisor is because he must have been advising the previous owner too because the last time we got anywhere near a good price for a player was £4 million for Craig Hignett about 20 years ago.

7,000 people have just endorsed the Board's way of operating, which is absolutely the fans' right. Those who are not happy with this would seem to be in the minority.

I bought a season ticket. It had nothing to do with the board or its policies. It had everything to do with supporting the club through harsh and difficult times, with the club that I have supported through 55 largely disappointing years still being there into the future. Being disappointed with what the club is achieving is ultimately far better than the club not being there at all.

To have your money for another season is as much support as the Board need though, isn't it?

But your post, and quite a few others lately have made me wonder, what is "the club"? What does that mean now?

But the only part of your opinion the Board will care about is the money you've put down?

A lot of people like getting a key ring and plastic wallet to put their season ticket in. It makes them feel less like pawns and more in the know.

The renewal of season tickets is commendable but even assuming everyone was sold at £250 that equates to £1.75m for the year.

The last season in division one the club had a wage bill of £8.1m and lost £3.4m. The club went in to that year with net assets of £9.4m which had fallen to £6m as a result of the loss. This broadly equals two years of losses in division one based on current revenue and expenditure in league one.

The impact of relegation is massive on a club like Barnsley and unless the club can bounce straight back or cash in on player trading the outlook is not great.

The big positive is that the club is going in to the next year with a positive balance sheet. The impact of the current crisis may mean significant changes in our rivals’ finances and their ability to continue to pay large transfer fees and player salaries. Conversely, it may also impact on transfer fees for all but the very best talent.

    Who’d own a football club?

But did it? Really? Someone else said in another thread that we were hardly put in the shop window with a massive ‘for sale’ sign on us and I believe this is far more likely tbh.

It’s more than a coincidence for me that the current owners came along just before PC passed imho.
