get it. stoke and luton needed a win at weekend got it. ok hull are ****. boro and wigan tonight need it go get it.
we needed it v luton, stoke and wigan and got next to nowt. amateurs on the pitch and in the board room . end of
Reading hardly put up a fight tbh nice play in first half but didn’t want to know 45/55 balls especially second half .
TBH us and hull look gone, the others all putting up a fight and getting wins recently - difficult to choose the other team who’s gonna go. We had our wind early doors and got the wins but we were just too far behind to start with.
Shame we didn’t drop on many of them tbh , most of the teams weve played have had something to play for . The two that hadn’t we did well against .
Luton are winning tonight there next games are hull and Blackburn two winnable games I fancy them to stay up. I think it will be us hull and wigan or charlton.
The way Wigan are going their 12 point deduction will be next season because they will be too far clear of the bottom three. Imagine being told at the start of the season that we would be so **** that Wigan would finish more than 12 points above us.
Luton look like the team that may well escape (if they win tonight) and then taking into account their final two matches. We only have ourselves to blame after that pitiful display against a dog **** Stoke side and only taking 2 points from the following marche against Luton and Wigan.
True only got our selves to blame before the stoke game we had a great chance of avoiding the drop but scored 1 goal in 3 must win games and no wins didnt help.
My understanding is that if they finish over 12 points above the bottom three then the deduction is applied next season.
It’s only applied next season if they finish in the bottom three this season - the rationale here being that a points deduction when you’re already down isn’t really much of a punishment. It’s applied this season if they finish outside the bottom three, meaning they’ll stay up as long as they stay 13 points clear of the bottom three (12 will even do it due to their superior goal difference). This is why people are arguing that the punishment should be automatic relegation.
Think the argument is remaining fixtures wouldn’t be as contentious as they might be if they already down with games remaining .
We've done alright since the restart, much better than a few around us, and much better than most people anticipated. Myself included to be fair. The only reason folk are talking like we've 'gone' is the run of three fixtures left to play. And I get that. But we began the COVID games 7 adrift and we're now 3 adrift. Bit of an ask like, but not impossible. And seven points might do it. We're still in with a chance. I think that's incredible considering matchday 2 to matchday 18. I think the results fell about as good as we could have hoped for tonight.
You're right but for some reason I thought there was a third scenario. I don't know why but I thought that if they finished twelve points or more above the relegation places that the deduction was deferred to next season. I have no idea why I got this idea in my head.
