If the BBC are having a budget review and need to save millions, then they can start by shutting down this pile of crap. Does anyone actually care or listen to BBC local radio in enough numbers to justify its existence? Don't get me started on Look North either, that's another waste of resources.
According to expert on radio, looks positive for us and wednesday and the no goal for sheff u is just classed as hazard of technology.
Each to their own, but I think BBC local radio (and BBC Radio generally) is the far better value proportion of the licence fee. There are thousands of people out there, around 150,000 in the Radio Sheffield area alone, often elderly, isolated or lonely, who depend on services such as local radio as their contact with the outside world, and listen every week, albeit that's a decline in numbers. BBC Radio Sheffield's coverage of, and support to, the communities affected by flooding in recent years has been first class, IMHO.
The 6.30 BBC local news opt-outs - Look North, NE Tonight, Midlands Today etc etc - return a total viewing figure in excess of most other stuff across the networks. 5m+ tune in most nights, yet the BBC are decimating their budgets.
I don't remember the last program I watched on BBC TV. I never listen to radio 1, 2 etc. The only BBC thing I watch it listen to is BBC radio Sheffield. It's my default radio station in my car and what I listen to football heaven and commentary on.
Let me share a little story with you all here as to what is wrong with the BBC, spending our money btw. My job at one point was to work in the community with funding applications etc. One year it was a significant anniversary of the miners strike and I was working with Cortonwood Miners Welfare Scheme. Look North asked if they could visit us to look at the work we were doing to help the community. So they rocked up, with a completely different agenda to the one stated, our Christa and Harry and co. BBC local radio appeared to do something, nobody knew what and then BBC National arrived thinking 'something' was happening. There must have been 30 BBC people inside the Welfare for something that didn't warrant anything like that. When BBC national found out it was only Look North doing their bit, they were really peed off and disappeared with the hump on. How much money was wasted that day?? Oh, and at the end ITV turned up in one car with two people, interviewed a few locals and got the best stories!! The money wasted that day would have funded so many deserving projects! Enough said
I enjoy Radio Sheffield and it's output almost every day. Looking at the awards they have won through the years I think they must have had an off day when they rolled up to your event. BBC does some great stuff, not sure where I'd swing the axe.
We won’t watch it, Calendar and ITV news. Look Leeds is so Leeds United biased it’s unbelievable. Unbiased BBC don’t make me laugh !!
Paul the weatherman is the worst with his “And join me later for that all important forecast in full”. All important - really?
Instead of the communal slagging off of the BBC on this occasion some more details of what concerns us as fans of the club might have been handier
I remember when Bradford City were in Premiership he was full of it you NEVER hear him say owt about now, typical plastic fan.
So do I. When I'm out on a multi day walk, I really enjoy googling loads of different weather forecasts. Once we've found a good one, we can set off.
No, you're wrong. I don't like it, so no-one needs or wants it. Get rid now so I don't have to pay for a licence and can just pay for Netflix to show BBC-made programmes anyway. Think that's the argument?
