    I dont understand why some people have this bizarre idea that Dickie isnt a Barnsley fan. Season ticket holder for years and gets just as involved in the games as any other normal fan.
    But as a sideways point - he was always totally fair as an umpire and were he on the appeals committee he would put aside his Barnsley loyalties and make a fair decision based on the facts available

    When we reached the play-off final in 2000 a good mate of mine, who happens to be a Nottingham Forest supporter, came to the match with my family and me and for the occasion he borrowed a Barnsley shirt from me to wear at Wembley. I thought that it was a nice gesture. At no point then, or in the intervening 20 years, has it occurred to me that he perhaps secretly supports Barnsley.
