Good summary of the conversations and points Dane has made to the various media organisations in the last week
well done dane. despite all the stick you've had on here, credit to you for sticking with it throughout extremely difficult times. Some good comment on the culture and positivity around the club.
"They look like a good Championship side." We really don't Dane. We look like a team of rookies playing out of their skins and still with a lot to learn who finished the season in the bottom three quite justifiably. Let's not rewrite the narrative because we got the result that mattered at Brentford if we profit from Wigan's demise. Let's learn our lessons and tweak it. We need to rethink recruitment and add a few players of a different type to the good young lads we already have. On the positive side, really good to read of the commitment to maintaining the Academy. It's a shame the prospect of staying in the Championship didn't mean some could've retained their jobs but I'm so glad the rumours of a wholescale closure were off the mark.
Makes me laugh, the talk in his statement of the need for a restructure, yet shoehorning their lass into a position on a decent salary by all accounts.
You do realise she possibly doesn’t have any position at all, and she’s purely on the payroll as a more tax efficient way of paying Dane. I could be wrong, she may actually do something, but it’s pretty common in business.
I'm guessing you've seen the video that was released by the club and the interview she did for all to watch?
Nope. Like I said, I could be wrong, I was just stating that it’s not uncommon for it to be for tax efficiency.
That quote was a worry, along with not seeing the need for experience. We saw the impact Solbauer had on the defence, and that is probably not just on the pitch, but off it also. Yes, we got to 49 points, and our form second half of season was good, but we still struggled in games where we were expected to play well, never came from behind to win a game and were seconds away from being relegated, regardless of what happens at Wigan. Hopefully Struber stays, and if he can identify one or two more experienced players that he thinks will make a difference, then the board will back him, within reason like they did in January. Otherwise, why would he stay?
I can't find it but it was a behind the scenes video for International Women's Day, and she openly talked about her role, how that helps the Academy, working with Bobby, etc. Doesn't mean you'll be convinced that role is deserved, but at least the club are being completely transparent that she works at Oakwell. Dane has also openly talked about it as well to be fair.
If Dane was the main target, it’s not trivial to bring both an employee and their spouse into the country, so it’s a lot easier to give them both a job. It’s really common. Nothing wrong with that. However, by all accounts she’s good at what she does and very talented, it’s not like hiring a cleaner as a goalkeeping coach.
Although from memory we may have been better of hiring the cleaner as the goalkeeper at various times over the last few years.
I think they do and many others have said the same. Struber had 30 games and in those games we were 12th or 13th overall.
