Let's be sound with the Wigan lot, shall we? Imagine it was roles reversed. They're going through a terrible time at the minute. They've been annoying the last couple of weeks but outside of the appeal I'm sure we all wish them well Seen a few mocking posts on Twitter already - don't do it, it's lame
well I for one will spare a thought for them. It's not the fans fault. I remember when we went into admin I stood at the ground doing bucket collections to raise funds. It was horrible , so I feel for them .
Was just about to say something similar I've got no axe to grind and I don't want to gloat. I'm incredibly grateful we've (rightly, given the circumstances) stopped up but I do feel for their genuine fans. Just think its a shame most seemed unwilling to accept they had been overspending for a while.
No. They have been giving non-stop grief out on social media, all because we happened to be the beneficiaries of their breach of the rules. They have refused to accept that spending money they didn't have is the reason they finished higher up the league than we have. Hopefully some of our fans might be a little more understanding when the club take difficult decisions to balance the books. Wigan can go bust for all I care, this is a day for celebrating.
I would have drather done it of our own bat than this way ,but still Championship football is far better for viewing than League one.
Balls to them. I got a few nasty comments on Twitter so I hope they fold and go out of business. Tin pot outfit.
What about the mocking posts towards us the last two weeks? We had nothing to do with them apart from the fact that we had the audacity to win football matches to put them in this position that they had to appeal their 12 point deduction. AND they abused Barnsley FC and our fans for it.
What annoys me is they don’t seem to get it! They have been living beyond their means for ages and tied to go further in the same vein but it went tits up on them. In other words they gambled and failed!
It’s obviously rubbish for them. I feel for the fans. I’ve no idea why a lot made it into a Wigan vs Barnsley issue. I don’t think any of us want to see a club get shafted by their owners. Our main argument to the EFL was to challenge their processes to make things fair. Clubs were found guilty of breaching rules, yet weren’t punished. We said that it wasn’t fair to relegate clubs when other teams were facing potential point deductions for breaking rules. We had that argument before Wigan were put in admin. Let’s hope clubs start to realise that overspending is too risky and ultimately ends in failure. I doubt things will suddenly change though!
