"No comparison with them and other clubs situations. They have simply been living beyond their needs for years. Spend, spend spend what you haven't got for years and pop you go. As a club they have done dispicable things but received no punishment along the way for it. They stink from top to bottom."
Genuine question Baka - what have they done that's despicable? They have clearly been living beyond their means and the warning signs have been there for some time but they've not broken the FFP regulations to the best of my knowledge? And that's the basis of their argument - they thought the new owner would continue to fund the losses and because he wasn't willing to do that and pulled the plug it's somehow the EFLs fault for not spotting that in advance. I understand they must be feeling very emotional about it now (we would if it was BFC) but not their lack of any rational thinking about the real cause of their problems. Imo what this illustrates is that fans from any club shouldn't assume that operating within FFP limits equals being well run. Instead regular and escalating losses should be a huge warning. For years fans have assumed that rich benefactors would fund their clubs poor financial management forever, evidenced best for the clamour for more and more expensive signings. I think Patrick's biggest legacy is that he educated the vast majority of us to understand that can't be the case and generally I think we have a sensible and reasonable fan base in terms of their expectations on how much money we spend.
I've noticed a BarnsleyFanInPeace set a thread going and tried to defend our position. First two posts in response were just a regurgitation of what they've been saying for the last 2 weeks. 'if you think we deserve the points deduction you know nothing about the case' Just painful and deluded reading.
I think we would mostly all agree with you Andy. All people like me have argued is that the resources we do have could be used a bit differently. The club CEO himself has said that mistakes were made. Sollbauer’s signing basically endorsed what some of us had argued all along. We all have the long-term interests of the club at heart when all is said and done.
Haha ‘account rejected’. Obviously blocking newbies in case anyone has the audacity to point out their bare-faced hypocrisy.
Just read that, it's baffling. They seem incapable of realising that even though their owner was a nasty so-and-so, the circumstances in which they went into administration could not be classed as force majeure. And should therefore carry a 12 point penalty. That Moonay bloke seems to constantly put forward the argument that one of the reasons it's unjust is because they already had more points that we managed before they went into administration. I just can't get my head around why that holds any relevance. I also can't fathom how they believe spending 168% of their turnover on wages doesn't give them any advantage. Bonkers.
There are some heads in the sand clearly. Couple of things they don't seem to realise; - Their administrator, when interviewed on Talksport yesterday morning said they had no problem with the 12 point penalty being imposed, as it was automatic. They were appealing on the only grounds available, which is force majeure - The independent panel subsequently threw out the appeal, with Wigan's QC quoted as calling the case "unwinnable" There is nothing in the regulations about Sporting advantage, missed payments etc... Simply 12pts deduction, unless unforeseen circumstances can be proved as the sole reason. No doubt there have been some unforeseen circumstances, with the season suspension, behind closed doors games and whatever behind the scenes stuff they are arguing about the takeover. But that will all be alongside the fact that they didn't have enough money in the bank to pay the bills. There is no debate on whether this punishment should be applied, within the current regulations. Or at least the debate has been had, and thrown out. The real debate is whether the regulations should remain as they are.
There was a Barnsley fan went on in peace and got told to do one. They listed all the things their owner did as reasons to not have the 12 point penalty. I'd have kicked them out of the league altogether. The level of fraud taking place was enough to punish them in it's own right.
Stormin' Norman is the biggest bell end on that forum: posting Rick Parry's home address. He'd been threatening to come on here if they won their appeal but I can't say as I've seen him around.
Piesrus alluded to having spoken to the QC and said their prospects of winning the appeal were very good. Which, I have to admit, made very worried. His tail's been in between his legs for the last couple of days, though! I really want to go on there and give them some hammer but they keep rejecting my account even when I set my VPN to Albania or Bolivia.
Seen them giving barnsley fan in peace some horrible comments and banging on how we have been horrible to them. They brought our fanbase abuse to themselves by trolling us and sharing hatred when we won brentford and for celebrating then it brought our Twitter numptys out. Some of them calling us tinpot when we have better supporters than them, spend more time in higher divisions than them....what does that really make them?
