Oakwell has a slightly larger capacity than The Den, assuming we are able to use all of it. If the rules for Millwall are the rules across the board, we won't be able to fit all our season ticket holders in.
Hence the 7k based on 30% capacity. Circa 8k sold. Club will have to introduce a process. If those figures apply you’d miss 1 in 8. Until capacity is increased.
If no away fans were allowed with our fans using the stand & the west side fully opened both sides , then surely we would not be far covering our season ticket holders on a reduced capacity
Can’t see away fans being allowed next season at all. Certainly with the fear of the second wave happening in winter. I based my figures on capacity and season tickets sold.
Based on loosely the same 30% capacity - we’d be allowed circa 6,750 spread out, including executive boxes. What’s more interesting, is how well we’ve done as a club to get the season ticket money in early. We know why the club did it, and the fans backed them in their numbers. How many clubs followed suit I wonder?
Millwalls early bird price was £350-£450 adults if bought by April. Not sure if those prices changed along the way. TBF Barnsley are one of the clubs who seem to have dealt with the situation best regards pricing etc. Be interesting how they manage the situation. 1. Do they stop taking on season ticket requests. 2 No pay on day. 3 Manage on feedback re bubbles. Don’t envy em, but so long as it’s fair on those that have already renewed. I’ll take it as it comes. Sit where put, etc. Sure some will say, “That’s my seat. Why do I have to move” But common sense understanding has to prevail. Lots of disappointed folks. But what will be, Will be.
I asked on a championship page on Facebook re. season tickets and their prices and numerous clubs did say theirs are not on sale yet A number of fans didn't understand why people would buy one but a number countered saying they wanted to support their club as you say
One reason to buy one is what we have been discussing , if the capacity has to be reduced, then fans who have already bought their tickets will be at the front of the queue whilst those who have waited might well miss out , we shall see , all ifs & buts at this stage .
I don't know how it will work but if it is something like fans sat dotted around the stadium, empty seats beside, behind and in front with no away fans I honestly think I'd rather stay at home and watch on ifollow.
As an occasional attender (1 game a month at Oakwell plus odd away games in the Midlands) that's me stuffed then.
I don’t think we can play without away fans. Might aswell just close it off until it is safe to go back to normal. Also, it is going to be a tough one to manage scattering folk around the stadium. I don’t think it’s a case of “That’s my seat I’m sitting there” in a lot of cases folk sit where they are for a reason. Imagine someone who struggles to walk being moved from the bottom tier of the east to the top tier. The club wouldn’t have any clue that this person is unable to do this.
Not unfair at all. As one who travels to most away games 90%. The importance of catering for home fans must take priority. Not only for fairness but for covid and the chances of spreading the virus.
Can’t wait in whatever format, really can’t see how it will work with folk in front or behind and especially in the concourse, not a fan of being in 2 hrs before kick off though
