After listening to a preview interview on Lauren Laverne's show on 6 music, I've just discovered Mortimer and Whitehouse gone fishing. I'm a bit younger than them by 8-9 years but having had a heart attack I can really relate to the show, and their humour and banter us right up my street. What TV show has anyone else discovered late?

Couldn't care less about the fishing, just a good show to watch given the cameraderie. Succession is another wholly different show that I only caught lately. And Perry Mason the new incarnation I also watched after never having seen the original, both good series.

Detectorists is absolutely brilliant. Excellent acting, funny and almost soothing to watch. Gone fishing also has a similar effect on me. Find it difficult to describe, but both shows just put me at ease. Admittedly, I sound a bit weird now... But I'm sure folk who have watched either know what I mean. Maybe.

Detectorists is brilliant- only discovered it recently.
Only just managed to watch the Sopranos - amazing.
Last one is Silicon Valley - may not appeal to everyone but I'm a bit nerdy and love it.

Fauda - on Netflix it’s about Isreali snatch squads. It’s a bit like Homeland but a bit more brutal.

Friday Night Dinner - Everyone at work talked about it. Seen it, intended to watch it, never did until just before the latest series. Amazing comedy

Leverage - Housemate used to watch it about ten years ago. I don't normally go American, but this has Gina Bellman in it (Jane from Coupling). It's an American Hustle but love it. Up to series 5 now, I've I'm having a break as I can't gorge on telly. It was made about 10 years ago.

Close to Home - Flicking through and found Forces TV and it was on. Paul Nicholas (Vince from Just Good Friends) is a divorced father of two. His daughter is Lucy Benjaman of Eastenders. His assistant is Jane Briers (Richard Bryiers' sister), his GF in series 2 is "Reen" from Roger Roger (who looked amazing) and numerous people come into his surgery who you think "I know them" (my hobby). It was broadcast on ITV in 1989-1991 and I never saw it when I was a kid. I'd have loved the dad jokes in it too. Well I do now.

    Babylon Berlin.

Watched all 3 series back to back.

Stylish between the wars German series which captures both the decadence and desperation of that era beautifully.

Great characters and story lines, not to mention the music which includes the sensational Zu asche zu staub by Severija plus, bizarrely, some Bryan Ferry cameos.

But best of all is Liv Lisa Fries as female lead, Charlotte Ritter, with whom I shall forever be in love.

See it on Sky Atlantic Box Sets.

Endeavour is a programme I really enjoy, used to love Inspector Morse growing up. Every series is great barring just one iffy episode on Series 3.
No bad language and the violence is tame so is ok to watch around young eyes. Perfect viewing on a cold dark night with a glass of proper Cuban rum or a good red.

The documentary 'we stand alone together' is well worth watching if you enjoyed band of brothers. It's the actual people interviewed about their experiences.
