I know a few people who have tried to get a test recently and have been unable to do so unless they wait a week or travel over 100 miles. Absolutely no point in being tested if you have it but by the time you get a test it’s gonna be negative

Stirs up problems when it's work that dictate you have to have the test within three days of showing symptoms and phoning in.

I don't get why our experts compare us to other countries but expect us to be many times worse than them by doing the same as they did.

Oh I appreciate that point absolutely.

I was just saying that the criticism of these 2 blokes was a little unfair, when it should be aimed at Chief Wankstain.

So I’ve just seen the main criticism for the scientists doing the briefing today being that they weren’t charismatic.

Honestly some of the things spouted on here are unbelievable, perhaps we should’ve knocked up a proper script and hired Tom Hardy in to read it out?

Sort your priorities out people and listen to the information that is being given out please.

Pubs aren't even a hotbed of infections. Nice move but you're only reducing infections by 5% and putting at risk way more livelihoods than you're saving.

It’s a Tory trick and some never learn , guess who’s gonna get blame when the stuff hits the fan.
Got to say Tories are very good at this blame game but you have to question the naivety of anyone who gets into bed with them.
Lib Dem’s , Scientists , News Reporters and if all else fails there’s always the civil servants .
Mind you it always depends on Joe Public taking it in and just to make sure shout get Brexit done that usually does the trick .

One person said this. Hardly the main criticism is it? Plenty of other comments made though.

It doesn't look like the fear speech earlier went down well.

Tory Blame game in full swing .
Get the scientists with their blessing to say something unpopular then bang issue statements against them whilst swinging the Union Jack .
    Works every time .

They're not unrelated, Chemotherapy patients have extremely low immune systems, if they carried on with appointments as normal and Covid got into the hospital it would devastate Cancer patients.....my wife has been undergoing Chemotherapy and had her follow up appointments cancelled or delayed, we understand.

The doubling every seven days means that by Christmas there'd be 49 million cases in the UK. Bit far fetched ?

Don't care if they're charismatic. Do care that they are putting out a graph that is meant to shock. If we don't have 98m cases by christmas, will they be claiming that as positive ?

Why is it putting livelihoods at risk? The government would pay the landlords for use of the pubs, and cover the wages of staff while the pubs were being used as classrooms. None of them would be out of pocket.

If pubs are the source of 5% of cases (where did that 5% come from?), then reducing infections by 5% might be enough to bring it back under control. It would also reduce infections in schools - less pupils to come into contact with each other. Both measures would certainly help to reduce R and education is far more important than a pint.
