Horseshoe in Wombwell circa 1984/5 for a Christmas party when I was all of 13 or 14.

We used to get served in dollys, silvers, alabama alligator and upstairs in chennels when we were 15.

They were more strict -remember being in there and getting served OK then some others came in and were refused as underage - the sods then tried to drop us in it as well - I think I might have been just 18 at the time but could still have been 17 - I know it was someones 18th the reason we were there just cant remember who and whether their birthday was before or after mine :)

Really good thread of tweets there. Having to wear a mask in a pub or restaurant will kill what's left of hospitality and it's such a low risk place to mingle.

Not sure the mask is a big deal you only need to wear it whist walking from the door to your table
Forcing table service and a 10pm curfew is much more of an issue in my opinion

The pub I have been visiting recently is mostly doing food so they get table service anyway, but me and my mate could walk up to the bar and get served then walk to a free table and sit to drink - if someone was already at the bad we just waited 2m away until they were served then when they went and sat down we went up to the bar - no difference to being served in a shop or a takeaway

its just more work for the staff if we have to sit down so they have to come over to take an order for the drinks, then come back with them, then with the card machine and just generally a bit more of a pain. I guess the idea is to put people off going but the government isnt responsible for the pubs closing for good because they didnt close them

It's like being at school all this, the entire class or year getting punished for the n*bhead no hopers actions.
Those caught and fined should be forced to wear a prominent item of clothing for 12 months that indicates they're bell*nds!! Totalitarian I know but if the cap (w*nkers hat) fits

To counterpoint (from Ireland, but the principle is the same):

TLDR if PHE (or equivalent) are asking for your movements for the previous 48 hours for Test & Trace, but you were infected 5 days previously they don't know where *you* caught it, but where you were when you could infect someone else. So if you spent Saturday night in the pub and picked up a nice case of COVID, then you won't feel ill until after Wednesday, in which case you would report that you had only been to work on Monday & Tuesday. That would count as office-based, even if it wasn't. Your wife would count as home-based, but they got it from you going to the pub, and your kids might count as school based.

Symptoms can take longer than 4-5 days to manifest, and each day makes it less likely to trace where you were actually infected.

And then we have articles like this... https://theconversation.com/eat-out...iven-uk-coronavirus-spike-new-findings-145945

TLDR Areas with lower uptake of "Eat Out to Help Out" had lower incidences of COVID - with the exception of the South West.

I would agree with that. 10-11 at night in pubs you see people going home gradually as they know it's closing soon. I don't think we will have the same between 9-10. I think losing an hour means everyone will leave at ten. It's brilliant that covid won't get us at a table, only on a trip to the carsy.

I think your drunken ar5eholes will stock pile beer at their tables knowing the pub shuts at 10 and there will be more binge drinking.

4 positive COVID cases recently. It was freshers week and all the kids were partying as if there was no virus.
    Unbelievable

Boris' response to Ben Bradshaws question in commons, mindblowing!
The exact reason why Covid is on the raise, he can't accept blame and creates new (false) narratives / history which ultimately undermine the new and current guidance and the work of his health experts.

Further proof we have 2 competing governments, the one where civil servants (experts) try and mitigate Boris' and Cummings uneducated message and urges. Then the Boris sh*show, where he removes experts and people he doesnt agree with.

Further proof he's not fit to govern and lead. Nailed on by the weekend we'll have more undermining comments and behaviour and then u-turns by end of next week.

Fair enough, I have seen many people driving with masks on on there own each to their own though. I also question the effectiveness a bit of cloth is having in protecting us against the worlds most feared virus
