We had the argument the other week about whether we are stronger or weaker than the end of last season. The jury is still out I'd say, although it doesn't look good. Fingers crossed for some incomings in the next week or 2.
Doesnt seem happy does he? A few week back now since they promised all the brown money would be re invested back into the squad not to mention we also sold wilks for what we paid for him....
Ok we can't/won't pay daft wages and big fees..... So why haven't we got a couple more championship quality loan players in?? You would think if we can't afford to attract permanent signings, then the loan route whilst not ideal is the only other option.
This could end in tears, games of brinkmanship never usually ends well for coaches. On one hand I agree with him but due to Covid we need to watch pennies. Even Barca seem to be having a fire sale. The deal for Aarons at Norwich reported makes it look like they're skint whilst at the same time they're paying Messi daft money.
It all seems a bit groundhog although its still early days. Don't want to sell best players. Club says its learned lessons. Coach wants experience. Wants quality to compete. Criticising in 2 interviews isn't going to go down well at all. Especially while the points tally remains at zero.
Looks like that, but we were willing to pay 3 million for that Croatian who wasnt interested in coming. I also heard we were willing to pay 20million for mbappe but he didnt fancy it either
In the current environment, it would be surprising to me that the owners would want to push the boat out on 2 to 3 more players. I think we will be lucky to get one more. Some fans already considering refunds on Season Tickets. No sign of fans returning. It could come down to survival for alot of clubs.
To stand any chance of staying in this division, it is patently obvious, that we need at least two new experienced players capable of blending in with the players that we already have. It would be a dereliction of his duties and his commitment to the fans and the players he professes to " love", if Struber didn't stick to his guns and reiterate what he's repeatedly said since the close of last season. If the board don't like what he's saying and his verbal outburst eventually leads to his dismissal, then fair enough. He would leave us with his reputation intact and take with him our thanks for his part in our survival last season and would in no small way, help to heighten many fans contempt for a board who hitherto have not exactly endeared themselves to the fan base by allowing us to suffer a needless relegation and due to the financial mismanagement of a rival club, very narrowly avoid another one last season. At this present time , we have lost our first two games but thankfully, there are forty four still left to play, so there is no need to panic just yet. Having said that, if later in the season, this board stands by idly and deliberately watch us drift into the drop zone, I'm afraid that many fans, myself included could start to question our loyalty towards a club who through the actions of our owners, appear content to allow us to be regarded as a perennial yo-yo club. The only flaw with such a policy, is that once in league one, as Sunderland have proved, it's not a given that promotion is easy to achieve.
It always makes me laugh......coaches bemoaning lack of funds and lack of experience when those previous doing his job complained of the very same thing....broken promises and the lack of ambition from the board .....guess it's a cheaper option to replace the coach....... Learnt lessons from last year....my Ar5e .. Same old at barnsley wash and rinse ....and repeat..
Just think of the type of players we could’ve bought instead of the Austrian trio of Schmidt/Ritzmaier & Frieser. We could’ve bought one quality championship ready striker for the fees and wages alone. He needs to re think before he speaks his mind as the last two were his choice and the jury’s out on all 3 in my opinion.
Do you remember Conway saying that Struber only wanted a small squad? Seems like he'll be getting his wish!!
21 word statement coming on web site sometime towards the end of October. Caretaker manager already in place 3 months wasted on the search for a coach who Conway will claim was the club's first choice all along.
And after the previous owner doing the very same thing, weve had a couple of seasons under this owner, and whilst I wanted to renew again for the what must be 25th year running, I was the only one who wanted to. I genuinely thought that we had escaped (very luckily I might add) and I've always argued that replacing 1 or 2 each window rather than the wholesale new squad, was the way forward. In some respects it does seem that way right now, but, to just stick and not twist as well, maybe the others were right. I haven't given up coming back, not at all, but I need something to help argue my case to the others, rather than be sat on my own billy no mates style
