    I'm sure when we were children we were given a spoonful of 'raw' Malt each morning ??? vile brown stuff. Then it was Cod Liver Oil - not much better!

    Remember reading about that in The Family from One End Street. One if them smashed a bottle of it at the train station and was gutted cos it was to help her younger brother get over the measles or something.

    Mam had it at breakfast time everyday of her life. Even to the extent. She’d take some to boarding house when we went away and had it instead of a full English provided. Lived till she was 84.

    I absolutely hate malt loaf on its own but can't get enough of it with a nice thick bit of butter (or margarine) on top.
