    FFS, it was a joke based on the information that the government has considered using de-commissioned ferries as migrant processing centres AND considered using the Assencion Islands as a migrant processing centre.

    As alluded to we should convert one of our remaining colonies into a giant penal colony (like old world Australia) and dump them there. Failing that we could introduce aggressive fish akin to pirhana to make the blighters think twice. Or...introduce special 'this way migrants' lanes which lead straight back to where they started. Or... Have special teams of divers employed to jump into the water and puncture their boats. Or.... Why not play loud Des O'Connor music all along the south coast to put em off? All of these are just as sensible. Mind you, could just treat em like human beings. There's a thought.

    During the Second world war, the Isle of Man was used as a detention centre for people of German origin including Jews. The government took over some sea front resorts and placed people there. They were fenced in but could move about outside,attend school, have concerts,libraries. They had committed no crime other than being German or of German origin. People in the UK who were German, during the First world war, suffered too but were not detained. This led to some anglicising their surname, in order to avoid harassment and discrimination. I believe the Royal family anglicised/changed their German surname in the 19th century.
