Son been sent home from Burton road school today due to Covid

Question I’ve got and I cannot find the answer anywhere .

He’s not got symptoms but somebody in his bubble has so all class been sent home to self isolate for 14 days .

I know myself and my wife can go to work has normal but what about other people from the family attending our house to visit or look after him whilst we are at work .

Is this allowed or not ?

Not allowed to get tested unless any of us have symptoms which we don’t

 

That's completely bonkers. Not your fault of course, but theres little wonder the trend is upwards.

 

Lie and say you’ve got a cough.

 

But I could be taking away a test from someone who really needs it

 

Muddled thinking due to a failed testing system is the only reason this happening. It's never been the service sectors or businesses fault. The odd d*ckhead and those at raves etc haven't helped but this is all to with the mythical world beating track and trace system we supposedly have or were promised.

What an awful system where someone in your bubble but does not live with you has covid and you have to be under house arrest for two weeks when those you live with have no symptoms and you're not allowed a test to end the madness.

 

Going through exactly the same my sons first day off from Greenacre today. So that's another 2 weeks onto of the 12 or so his missed last year despite not being ill at all and I still go to work?
Going to miss a lot of School at this rate as we head into the winter. Hindering his development no end. I just can't get my head around any of it.
If someone I work work tests positive I keep going to work. But schools just shut.

Well I knew it was a colossal mess, at just about every level, but this is something else and really explains the speed of spikes.

(And this is no criticism of the OP following official guidance).

Child found to have virus. Everyone sent home. No doubt some sent home will have it and some won't. The ones who don't have 14 days where their lives are altered needlessly. The ones who do, may not be aware they have it. And those needing childcare, may pass it one inadvertently to them, who then go back to their homes and pass it on, and so on and so on.

Everyone is adhering to guidelines. But its unhinged. We don't stall the virus to any huge degree and we don't have the data needed to be specific enough with tracing clusters and stopping it swiftly.

Meanwhile people without it are blocked from their daily lives and potentially harming the economy further.

On top of that, the official figures remain inaccurate and there will always be a lag trying to catch up clusters of spikes. And all the while we have tests that aren't being delivered where they could assist and less testing capacity than the headline grabbing big numbers that the govt allege to have.

Not necessarily, it depends on the amount of exposure and what the DofE advise. At ours, only 'close contacts' have to self isolate. Close contacts are defined as:

*direct close contacts - face to face contact with an infected individual for any length of time, within 1 metre, including being coughed on, a face to face conversation, or unprotected physical contact (skin to skin)
*proximity contacts - extended close contact (within 1 to 2 metres for more than 15 minutes) with an infected individual
*travelling in a small vehicle, like a car, with an infected person

We've had a few cases now and only those who have been within 1m or sat near within 1-2m for over 15mins have been sent home.

 

For me that highlights the problem, because each school is acting differently.
My household was tested (except my Granddaughter), we were positive, we advised the school. The school immediately sent her class home until a test could be done on her. We had a test done for her, she came back positive, now whole class have been advised by school to isolate.

Edit: we have track and trace ring us at least 3 times a day, each time they know no history, so go through it each time. We have been advised different things by different callers.

 

niece (3) sent home from nursery because of a persistent cough - if she tests negative then she can return to nursery and others in her 'bubble' who have now been told to self isolate can also return.
Not sure why your young-un has to be off for a fortnight.

 

Just out of interest, what sort of protocols are in place to stop the kids mixing as much and trying to make schools less risky?

 

Sons footy match on Saturday already cancelled cos their opposition are having to isolate.

 

Secondary keep in year bubbles, masks in corridors hand sanitizer on entering, some places wiping your chair and table , staggered breaks and lunch, end times etc.
Teachers stay 2 m apart, not taking books home to mark

The real irony being when I said I hope the person who has tested positive is ok to be told. "Shes fine, just a little cough"
Just so frustrating as my son has been so well since returning and home schooling just isn't viable for him. Also unclear on if he is allowed to go out or not.
