Since the end of last season a lot have left, an awful lot! Some honestly, clearly, not good enough, fair play we all say, no point them being here, taking wages that others could have. Then some left that were more than squad numbers, undisclosed amounts received Browny as an example. Loanees we re signed left, old managers mates followed. Still worries remain if we can keep hold of our better experienced players. All of a sudden we seem threadbare, short in so many positions, especially offensively. Question is, do we have enough to survive, I’m not talking about mid table, I’m talking 4th from bottom....
Next coach never been so important. Its make or break if they get it wrong we go down. Only saving grace is Wednesday point deduction, Wycombe being awful so only need 1 or two other teams to be worse then us. I think if we start scoring we will pick up enough points which is why I'm hoping for an attacking manager personally
Wycombe might be awful but they will battle and I expect them to make a go of it, they're only 1 point behind us and Ainsworth's no fool.
Have we got enough.......? Since the end of the season we have recruited 3 and lost 3, and purely on numbers we are treading water. So in answer no we do not have enough. (I’m counting Lugwig as a net loss from the end of last season)
We have a far weaker squad than last season. We are in trouble again. Can’t see us making any decent signings based on our owners mantra and lack of a head coach going into the closing of the domestic transfer window.
They said they wanted to thin the squad down, well they've certainly done that. They stated we needed 3 players to enhance that squad. From the squad that finished last season, we've lost Brown, Ludewig and Ritzmaier. We've lost Ben W to a long term injury. We've brought in Helik and Freiser who are ready for the first team matchday squad. So that's 2 in 4 out already. Net loss of 2, but just signed Brittain - no idea if he's 1st team squad or not yet. So 4-5 players still required imho. So to answer your question, no at the moment we haven't got enough squad depth. Conversely, it depends who the new head coach is though. What style he plays to get the best out of what we already have. Only time will tell
They simply aren't good enough so its irrelevant about Ainsworth, a bit like Morais telling us to believe every week.
If you look at the team we got promoted out of league 1 with and compare it to the current one, it tells you all there is to know about the failings and incompetence of the people in charge and the recruitment system/spreadsheet. A couple of lower league signings in the last week of the transfer window won't change my mind, the longer they are involved the lower Barnsley FC will sink.
Whilst none of are happy with the direction & way our current owners appear to be taking us , the facts are that after 3 years we have sank to the Championship & I know we are all pessimistic about the current situation however without the use of a crystal ball, then the future is unsure , we will see .
"We" aren't having any influence on Jack's training whatsoever. He's at Stevenage, who are coincidentally a L2 team, a team saved from going out of the FL by a independent panel overturning a points deduction for Macclesfield and relegating them instead.
At this moment in time 09:52 on 11th October 2020 the answer is - NO. We haven’t enough to survive. My hopes at the start of this transfer window were: New centre back - tick. A new quick forward to replace Brown - tick. A new centre fonward to hold the ball - X. A new midfield general to replace Mowatt - X. Four new players would have done it. But now: Ritzmaier has left - which is good - but we need a replacement. Ludewig has left - and although his contribution had dipped in the last few games, it’s still a big loss - so we need a replacement for him. Btittain has come in - and he looks decent. But IMO - as things stand now we still need at least 3 more players.
Kind of, but how does sending him out to a L2 team (who nearly got relegated out of football league) get him ready for L1 football (should we be relegated)? Is he not even good enough for L1 standard yet, I dunno
Out of interest who’s the new quick forward? Frieser isn’t any quicker and looks just as ineffective in front of goal at the moment and doesn’t offer any of the qualities that Brown offered us.
