Interesting as I thought he'd gone into journalism after retiring. Certainly came across as a very bright and articulate bloke in interviews. Personally, I really liked him as a player, in what was a very dark time for BFC.
Agreed MT. THe post administration period wasn't great for a couple of seasons (in danger of relegation one season) until we picked up again.
Just to qualify he usually finds a player with his final ball. Just they are never wearing a red shirt
Fess up for me. I've played rugby at a reasonable level but not football. Thomas has no end product and generally makes poor decisions in and around the box. However, he has no target man to aim for. I imagine his job (and the whole team's job) would be much easier if we had someone to aim for. Kane put a fabulous curling ball into the box, foxed everyone but not a bfc player within ten yards.
Think some of the comments on here are overly harsh on Thomas. I'm not saying he's been brilliant, but I do think he isn't far off being a very good player for us. He's rarely had a run in the team, and virtually never in his preferred position. He presses well, and wins the ball often. I am aware of his mistakes, but I would be far more concerned about a player who shows little in terms of effort, invention etc. It isn't coming off for Thomas. I don't think he's far off. Slagging him off after a couple of games selected in his preferred position, in one of which he had two assists, seems very harsh. Give the lad a break.
His performance today his pretty much his whole Barnsley career. Loads of opportunities but never creates any real chances.
I’d quite like to see him play a few more in his natural position, instead of playing bit parts of games in stupid diamond systems that suits none of the players we bought. Then again that would probably be pointless if our own fans were to drag him down when he’s far from being terrible.
