1968.Anybody remember that? I was 10 at the time but can't remember owt about it. For anyone interested... https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lancet/article/PIIS0140-6736(20)31201-0/fulltext
Too young to remember this but interestingly it quotes: "with half the deaths among individuals younger than 65 years—the reverse of COVID-19 deaths in the current pandemic. "
I think it was Hong Kong Phooey that sorted the flu out. But that led to Kung Foo fighting which was abart as bad
Yes I remember the talk of Hong Kong flu but only 11 at the time it possibly meant very little to me. In those days people relied on news papers for most of their information unlike today when social media can keep you better informed. I’ve no idea what my parents thought about it and too late now to find out. I suppose they just got on with their daily lives .
I think Paul Conway should be in charge of fighting the Covid-19 pandemic because we all know he wouldn't do anything crazy and would remain calm.
Interesting article - I was only 5 at the time so I don't remember it at all - it is a bit of a contrast to how things were done then or the outbreak 10 years earlier. one thing is for sure the way we are handling it is all wrong and we have the worst of all worlds - countries like Taiwan South Korea and New Zealand have managed to control it successfully with a quarantine and track approach and not suffered too badly economically We have gone for a half baked hotch potch which is destroying hundreds of thousands if not millions of jobs whilst not having much effect on the virus either
It was a direct quote from the article and I think it means that there have been little to no deaths under 65s with covid 19. The opposite of Hong Kong flu
I had it....completely wiped ya out even when I was recovering I couldn't stand up without holding on to the furniture........ keep safe all
Remember it well. I was working in the smoke, and we had 82,000 plus deaths. No lockdowns, no pub closures etc.
