Apparently backed by FIFA http://news.sky.com/story/top-engli...alks-to-join-european-premier-league-12109175
Do you ever wish stupendously rich people would just, for once, be happy with their existing fortunes?
In the current climate. With people dieing. With every life impacted in some form or another. With jobs lost. Houses about to be lost. The worst possible brexit zooming into focus across Europe. And uncertainty, the like of which many of us will never have seen in our lifetimes. And the richest clubs in Europe with the richest players in the world, decide they want even more money. Never has football jarred so much with the reality most of us face.
I wish they would sod off and set up their own little league - and then realise how little interest there will be in it
I reckon you're wrong, sadly. There will be billions of plastics - whose only connection with Manchester or Barcelona is the club they glory-hunt - lapping it up.
Let them go and when they come back cap in hand after it goes tits up ...close the door and make them start at the very bottom
You sure. It’s not how I read it.( via the bbc article.) unless I’ve read it wrong obviously. The sky report says to run in conjunction. But I fail to see how that could work given the amount of games to be played. Unless they field 2 different teams in the competitions. 18 teams to form a European super league. On a rugby league type format. League games then play offs. To decide winners. I hope they implode. Play to empty stadiums on a permanent basis cos the fans certainly don’t want it on the interviews I’ve seen. And I don’t blame em. Football at that level ceases to be a spectacle for the attending fans. Will be based on global tv audiences only. Pure unadulterated business not a game.
Fair enough Titus. Am I wrong in thinking then. That based on 18 teams. There will be 34 league games plus play offs. Whichever way it is mate. I’d rather they fecked off instead of making threats and get on with em. The FA should take the initiative and remove their registration. Once and for all.
It certainly doesn't look good and signals the beginning of the end of English footy as it is at the moment IMO.
Why should any British team be in a European league? Surely the country voted against things like that
