322 MPs vote against children getting free school meals during half-term and Christmas holidays

How, how, can anyone argue for children to starve at any time, let alone during a pandemic when many parents have no wage or have been living on partial wages for 7 months? Surely their usual argument of it being solely the responsibility of the parents won't wash even with people who would normally agree with them at a time like this? I absolute dread to think what January onwards will be like. Who the f*** voted for these barstewards?



Also, the celebrity has just been given an MBE for his 'virtue signalling'. What is this guy's plan for tackling the 'real issues' in time for kids to eat next week?

I should be celebrating that we are 2-1 up but this has made me so angry and upset.

 

I usually agree with it that it should be the parents responsibility but not during extreme circumstances like this.

 

The sad thing is many of those starving kids will have parents that voted these two hats in because, you know, brexit. The whole country is absolutely fcked.

 

That's what I mean. I have the opposite stance in that it's the kids who ultimately suffer and I have seen it firsthand working in some of the schools I have - skeleton or pot bellied kids crying in hunger and unable to concentrate. Yes, sometimes their parents were undoubtedly to blame and some of the children were eventually removed from their parents but until that could happen they still needed to eat. Even though we have differing opinions on this usually though, we both agree these are exceptional circumstances and no time to be refusing support and blaming it all on 'absent parents and I feel sure that that sentiment must be almost unanimous.

I love the Tories. Their humanity and concern for fellow Britons is truly humbling. I am constantly surprised how often they show their kindness, compassion and empathy for others. I think this must also be the reason why so many people vote for them. It's nice when you aren't starving I must say. Good job those communist Labour types didn't get in eh?

What a hypocrite . Quite happy to sell children short but has completely failed to realize that those children when adults will be paying his pension / healthcare expenses via taxes . They always talk about " self responsibility " until its about them then it's 100% " I've paid my taxes so I'm entitled to X Y and Z " .
