No one who posts regularly on this BBS, who is sceptical about the validity of the restrictions and has been vocal about it, believes that we shouldn't take responsibility for our actions to protect both ourselves and others. No one. That is exactly what they do believe, that we are capable of taking responsibility, that we will make decisions based on the welfare of all and that by doing so far more people will have longer happier healthier and wealthier lives than if every decision made is to prevent the spread of a single virus without any acknowledgement of the consequences. There is not a single shred of selfishness in that. You weigh it up and you do what is best for most people, not for yourself, not for the few, but for most. What we're doing isn't. More people are being hurt by our efforts to prevent the spread of covid than from the virus itself. And the longer this continues the more undeniable that becomes.
Fair enough, I wasn't particularly referring to effects by the actions of posters on here though, although one does seem particularly worried if he can get to the pub over all else. I was just pointing out there is an alternative opinion
I don’t know how would a persons political views have a bearing on your world view... She cares so much about young people she supported a brexit that they loathe and will cost the country more than Covid. and a govt they rejected by a large majority but rejects something that imposed on her personal freedom whilst not seeming to consider the medical professionals who might have to look after her if she ignores public health advice and she may potentially infect. So yeah no idea why supporting a party that rejects the notion of society and votes to keep children hungry might feed into that.

People have lots of different motives behind choosing the parry they vote for some may even be misguided and being "sold", an idea. I would rather just take her statement on it's own merits.
Sorry - where does it say she voted Brexit? Not that it’s in any way relevant, but you seem to be obsessing about it, and I can’t see where it says she was in favour of Brexit?
I've just read the interview. She's all over the place really - even after all this she still backs Boris. Quite amusing in places, otherwise.
What you have to understand is, a lot of people of her age haven,t been able to hug/kiss even see there grandkids/great grandkids for months and probably fear never seeing them again, fully understandable in my opinion..not everyone buys into the governments agenda, including some top scientists that are every bit as qualified as whitty and co on the subject..
She reminds me of Brenda from Bristol. Have you heard Barnsley's in lockdown? You're joking - not another one!
Relax not you, that narrow it down a bit? Not getting into name calling that was far from the main point.
I can see both points of view on this. I admire her for speaking out clearly and not wishing for restrictive measures which impact on young people's lives - all very well but she then should take sensible measures to protect herself - she doesn't have to lock herself up, but may have to be more careful with meeting others - she looks fit enough to meet up outside with family which is permitted in groups of six or fewer.
Might as well. He gets 250 quid a week now until he reopens. Thatll cover half the rent. Worth it though. Wouldnt you agree. The stress of running a pub that could get closed at a moments notice. Figuring out how to keep your self afloat. Pay your staff and make sure they ave a roof over their head. Paying suppliers, rate etc. For something that carries the same mortality risk as getting out the bath.
Car crash TV from them this morning with these two videos, especially from her husband if anyone goes to the ITV hub for the full interview. Maureen is now trending on Twitter for bad reasons and with where her husbands arm is hiding it looks like he's a ventriloquist with a puppet.
