GET TO KNOW VALÉRIEN ISMAËL Club News Valérien Ismaël has been appointed as Head Coach at Oakwell and here is all you need to know about him! Continue reading on the official site...
We played them at home two days after he signed for them in January 98. He wasn’t involved. Bruce Dyer and Kevin Miller both played for palace that day though, as did Thomas Brolin who looked about three stone overweight. We won the game 1-0, I remember it quite well. Wasn’t a spectacular game whatsoever, but I remember it as I’d just got my first glasses for short sightedness and forgot them - which was a mistake given we were in the east upper tier...
There's scant detail there about how he got in with his first two senior roles at Nurnberg and Wolfsburg - anyone have any info? Not that it really matters - welcome to Oakwell Valerien!
6ft 3 and looks like he could knock the fc uk out of most of the BBS. So, if you’ve got anything to say, say it to his face. Soft lads.
I wouldn't look too deeply into his sacking record. German clubs are run by cooperstives of fans. Fans have a fickle, trigger happy nature. Even Stendel was sacked at Hannover 96 with them firmly in the promotion picture.
I’ll give him my support but he’s so obscure I cannot begin to have any expectations either way so let’s see after 10-15 games what we look like.
Itl be interesting to see how he gets on, played at a higher level than most of our most recent managers so let's hope he can transfer that knowledge into management. What formation does he prefer to use?
Older and got the better with age, he could read the game brilliantly and wasn't scared to bring it out from the back. Edit; was typing whilst putting a 3 year old bed initially.
I've kept my thoughts on him to myself, I'm buzzing for this appointment. This bloke works his nuts off. When he signed for Palace it was a shock, he was far far better than them. I watched him at Strasbourg his positional sense was outstanding, it took him a long time for his abilities to be recognised. He's used to being to underdog and having to work hard for recognition. I've got a really good feeling about this appointment and he's good looking chuff so says Mrs Mullet
He was sacked after one game in charge at Apollon Smyrnis after falling out with the club president. I don't think he's going to take any ****.
LASK Linz were league leaders at lockdown, but ultimately finished 4th, not helped by having points docked for breaching lockdown rules in training. I don't know how much that influenced his sacking.
He managed LASK in the Austrian league and now he’s going to finish LAST in the Championship (I hope not, but I can’t resist a pun)
