I get the point you're making, but not sure ritzmaier has anything to do with mowatt's positioning. Particularly considering he played a fair few games at left wing back. And although mowatt might have been more restrained his finishing in general has been woeful this year. Good to see him back on the scoresheet.

Hopefully the new manager can get the best out of him and he extends his contact with us.
I think everyone would be happy with that.

That was my first thought when it went in, Don't concede before half time.

It wasn't just Ritzmaier, it's more that Struber messed around with the whole formation and tactics at around that time. Woodrow became a midfielder, Mowatt a defensive midfielder, oduor a leper

I'm not fully convinced by the argument that it was struber's that mowatt failed to score and assist regularly last season. Mainly because I can remember mowatt frequently missing opportunities to score and misplacing passes. However, the stats do suggest you might have a point. Time will tell perhaps. And I should point out that I think mowatt still should be one of the first names on the teamsheet whether he's scoring or not.

I think he probably tries too hard and to force things too much sometimes hence the miss placed passes and poor shooting. There's no doubting his quality though and when fully confident and on form he's a very good player.

James in the team pushes him further forward. Expect more

Most of the shots he’s taken have been from distance & they’ve tended to be hit when he’s been under pressure & it was pretty much a case of shoot or risk the opposition having a counter attack.

Some of the criticism he’s taken has been bizarre, as the holding midfielder you’re the least likely to score of all the outfield players. Despite this he’s still been by far our most creative player.

I genuinely think a few people have decided to get on his back because it looks like he’s going to leave. I don’t believe it’s possible to watch him play & think he shouldn’t be starting for us. He’s clearly our best player. It’s like a City fan wanting De Bruyne dropped.

Totally agree, I said when we signed James that would free Mowatt to move further forward and that's what happened for the goal. Mowatt would never have been that far forward near the edge of their box without James playing today. Expect more of the same in future.

I could watch this goal over and over and over :) It's a beauty and hopefully the first of many for Alex this season

They are ok actually. Just the breasts the rest is a waste of time. Roast with streaky bacon wrapped round them for moisture then in the last ten minutes spoon over some blackcurrant jus, serve on a bed of mash. Perhaps that's what mowatt is "aiming" for. He should either buy a shotgun or a bengal cat (good at hunting birds)

I had pigeon once when on holiday in Malta ( in 1997, the summer when we got promoted to the PL actually) and it was one of the worst meals I've ever had. Picking bits of "meat" off skinny bones..... :(

Weirdly enough I was chatting to a couple of brickies at work last week and they were saying how nice pigeon is, saying it's got a texture like liver. We've aquired a pet pigeon on our site, it landed on the scaffolding over a week ago and won't leave us now.
It is being well looked after though :D
