Been on before, but it never fails to send a shiver down my spine and to remind me we're all Reds fans Magnificent Reds fans, passionate, caring, stronger together
There's one for the 80%ers. They should be made to watch that every day, then they'll understand what Barnsley Football Club means to the fans. You can't cheer a spreadsheet.
What memories. On that fateful day, I didn't get to the end of that without bursting into tears. Aye, a grown man crying
Thanks for posting that, great memories. Just wondered though, what brought it on to post this? Not complaining, just wondered like
Nothing in particular Tyke_67 We're in a world of Covid and Brexit, nothing else seems important at the moment, it's inescapable and relentless and will go on for years, the world has changed I just momentarily longed for a return to normality (whatever that is for a Reds fan!) and thought with nostalgia of some of the great times our small club has managed to deliver to us. Far more than some of the massive clubs around us. I also thought of some of the great people I've met over the years following the Reds around the country, great characters, the occasional not so great characters, humour in abundance, a real sense of belonging when we were in full voice. This video encapsulates that for me. I feel genuinely sorry for the Tarn kids who "support" Chelski, Manu, Citeh, Liverpool etc but don't go to Oakwell (the best named ground in the entire football League) It's both a trial and a privelage to support Barnsley FC and I wouldn't have it any other way
before social media came along and turned everyone into phone zombies, when we was happy with our lot
I was 2 years old when this was filmed. You who were there don’t know how lucky you were; I would give anything to be able to experience that. I remember 2006 well and of course 2016 and 2019, but looking at this, nothing compares.
Used to work with a Bradford fan who was there and said it was the loudest away game he'd experienced.
I certainly did, a lot there had parents who had been through thick and thin when they were alive and I think that was definitely part of the emotion.
Thanks for that lordtyke. Special memory. Caught up in the emotion and all that . Hope you don’t mind this Anfield 82. When we outnumbered the scousers on their own turf. Young uns take note. These are Barnsley fans. Estimated 15k to 17k. And Don Rowing thought we wouldn’t sell out our full allocation in the fa cup. (10k Settling for 4K+ I believe. Nob.)
Excellent that. Interestingly, had we had an early version of Excel in 1997, a number of that day’s heroes wouldn’t have been at the club. Super John, Wilco, Tommo, Redders, Shez, Clint and Shirty would have been too old to sign. As would Danny when he came, of course. And Watty, Bully, Arian, Lids, Adie and others would have been sold. But we’d no doubt have retained an interest in their future transfers.
