But England isn't a country. It hasn't been since the Act of Union passed through Parliament and came into law on 1st May 1707 - mainly due to England being heavily in debt and struggling to manage (while Scotland had no national debt) - to form the United Kingdom of Great Britain - which was again superceded in 1801 and 1922.

On closer inspection you and the Zodiac have alot in common. Poor use of the English language, spelling errors and no punctuation. Were you in California in the late 60s early 70s? Do you have a fetish for squirrels?

I was being flippant. I'm fed up of the whole brexit debate now. I've already decided its a historic mistake of enormous proportions and I've also already decided I've been lied to and that poorer people will suffer because of it both economically and politically. I've also decided that the current government is full of liars and incompetents. Hence the flippant throwaway comment. Cheers.

Zodiac really fascinates me - how they managed to make a balls of it by radioing in the wrong description of the bloke who shot the taxi driver.

Any theories on who it was?

May as well try to salvage this thread.

I spent a good year researching the Zodiac. Arthur Leigh Allen was my favourite like Robert Graysmith. There were too many links to the early cases, but they reckon DNA didn't match at the time of his death. The description at the time of taxi driver (Paul Stein) shooting from the kids in house opposite and cops who drove by matched him, including his peculiar walk. Then his family members reckoned he was Zodiac. So much circumstantial evidence. The way the local PD's worked together back then was akin to the Ripper case, bloody awful.
It's amazing though at the time Zodiac was around how many murderers and rapists were active in California. The night stalker / golden state killer was around then, yet Zodiac got more notoriety. Theres a great documentary on Sky Crime about the GSK. It charts the life of an author who tried to crack the case. Became an obsession, for her until her death. During 70s in California there were hundreds of home invasion and rapes which went unsolved.
Zodiac only killed 4 and maimed 2 but he's as famous as Bundy.

Yeah I've seen that documentary advertised - GSK always put the willies up me. Stacking the plates on someone's back so he could detect movement. It's the ones that committed crimes in your own home that always frightened me more - Night Stalker and BTK etc.

There's something about serial killers that are so fascinating.

The fact that both GSK and BTK were upstanding members of the community to everyone around them and in private were so sadistic really bakes my head. How for a few hours during the night every now and then a switch goes off and they become the devil is fascinating and scary as hell.
I've met a few murderers in my time, and they're usually nothing special. You look at them locked up and they're more often than not feeling sorry for themselves and looking for pity. Utterly bizarre especially when you read their files and what they actually did.
