The French have found people in one part of the country who were found to have had it mid-November 2019.
I'd recommend actually ringing pharmacies regularly and seeing if they have stocks as websites don't seem to be getting updated. I literally collected a prescription for the other half a few weeks ago and asked while i was there about the flu jab. They'd literally had a delivery the evening before and did it write there and then as they weren't busy.
Think I read that they were ramping up the flu jabs this year but prioritising. It stuck out because I’ve never had one*, but was led to believe I’d be having one this winter. *over 50 but not in any high risk group or profession that makes me vulnerable.
Same with my father in law Ian, he was in hospital with a really bad chest infection, he was struggling breathing, we’ve also got friends down south and he was also in hospital over Christmas with the same symptoms as my father in law,
How have they done that when it wasn't genetically sequenced and there was no available test until January 2020? The biggest news story in this revelation is the time machine they invented.
What it really should make people realise is that influenza and Covid-19 are respiratory infections that have an overlap of symptoms.
Andy I can't agree more....last week the testing stations in my area were running at 80% capacity....they should be testing to the max, I realise they might need to test more than once, and I also realise if demand for the more certain cases gets higher it wont be possible, but its ridiculous not to be utilising capacity while weve got it.
2 years ago just before xmas I was the worst I have ever been in my life all the symptoms of flu and covid. Spent about 4 days in bed couldn’t even get out to go take some tablets. I don’t think this covid was around then just think it had taken me 42 years to actually get Flu properly
It's driven up public awareness of how serious cold and flu can be. Hopefully HR teams will take this on board. One thing I hope doesn't change when this dies down is the use of masks on public transport. I think that's been a godsend.
WOTS is correct, the first known cases in Europe were members of certain armed forces in Europe that took part in the World Military games held in Wuhan last October....at the time though they didn't know it was covid19.
When you've had flu, like you have, and people who have a cold say they have flu, it kind of irks a bit doesn't it. Only ever had flu once myself, don't want it again.
Again, and this really needs reiterating, the genome of the virus was not mapped until January and neither was a test to identify it.
if a sudden severe and persistent headache are also symptoms of covid they should be saying so. I know they are probably worried about flooding the test stations by saying something as common as headache. But unless you suffer from migraines people know that having an headache for 12-24 hours and feeling a bit groggy ain’t normal. the testing station at Featherstone uses a small section of the Rovers car park which is pretty big. They could easily up capacity there. As I said before the more people who test positive and isolate the less it should spread.
Headache is one of the symptoms listed for Covid-19. All lists of symptoms for the infection include headache. Or any worth their salt do.
Subsequent tests, at the very least 3 months after any samples were taken (and one would have to question why samples were taken for a disease that wasn't identified) would certainly be prone to contamination and be unreliable. If you can, link to a medical paper from a reputable site that identifies cases of Covid-19 outside China prior to January 2020. I don't believe there is one and I don't put any credence in this story.
if your looking to get a test and go on the government website or app to book one it does not list headache. You can have a headache without a high temperature. my argument is if someone feels ill goes to book a test reads this and they may not bother as they don’t have those symptoms, but do actually have Covid
They should spend more on test kits and less on spaffing money on their mates. You can't get a test for love nor money if you can still taste or smell things. It's the assymptomatic/mild that scares me as we m8ght be carriers and unknowingly spreading it on friends and family.
