Is in doubt. Iceland are travelling straight from Denmark after they play the Danes and there are new government rules that apply to everyone coming from Denmark. If a neutral venue isn't found then it would be seen as England forfeiting the game which would give Iceland the 3 points. I get that most people in here won't care and I'm expecting a barrage of negative comments due to this being about international football.
I despise the England team, and want them to lose every game. But why can't the matches just be played the other way around? It is not the fault of the football team, or anyone associated with it, that its government are doing x, y, or z. There's like 10 days or something to fit the games in. Nor is it the fault of Iceland that the UK government has changed the rules. I get that there has to be a resolution, but it doesn't seem fair to punish either of them for something which is well out of their control. I have to say that I think the Nations League is a load of b0llocks during a pandemic, anyway. Glorified friendlies, at a time when Harry Kane seems to be playing football for 26 hours a day.
It is competitive, in a sense* - it's Nations League, not a friendly. In theory, there is a trophy at the end of it. *Though my opinion doesn't matter, I don't consider it to be competitive. But Southgate always takes it really seriously.
Sounds bizarre to me. I guess this has to do with lockdown rulings so why has this just suddenly come to light, as we've been in lockdown for 4 days now
I don’t think there’s any flights allowed from Denmark , so it could be termed as they didn’t turn up so forfeit
Couldn’t care less tbh, Denmark are obviously concerned or the wouldn’t be culling the mink etc, so as it’s only a glorified friendly just leave it for me
Not bothered about England team on many levels, this new strain of COVID needs to be kept out, I hope it is called off.
