First lines of Americanos by Holly Johnson. For the Trumpers. There's a place where a kid without sense He can grow up to be president.
Brimful of Asha (Cornershop) [Verse 2] And dancing, behind movie scenes Behind those movie screens - Asha Bhosle Just sounds like Asha Barnsley.
Takes me back to when I was in a covers band pre internet.... We relied on a cassette deck to record stuff off the radio then sat round playing and rewinding to get the lyrics. One I remember (and one I hated playing) was 'Power of Love' by 'Huey Lewis and the News ' . It had a line...'rich like cream' which unfortunately sounded to us like ''Pr*cks like cream'. I say "unfortunately" 'cos our singer ALWAYS insisted on singing the latter version whenever we played it, not that anyone ever seemed to notice. I always cracked up when we played it live. Another one, although not mispronounced lyrics, in the final 'mix' for the James Bond film theme 'Licence to kill', there is an unfortunately timed closed hi hat beat at the end of the first line of the chorus giving it a somewhat 'Scottish' connection. Perhaps 007 was planning to open an authorised traditional Scottish outfitters because instead of "...got a licence to kill' it comes out sounding like he has a "licence to Kilt" . Possibly an homage to the original 007 Sean Connery being Scottish?
One I remember being sung down at Peterborough to Darren Ferguson....now I don't know why I though this but....it sounded like " your dads a lovely person and so are you".....apparently it was...." your Dad's a ***t and so are you".
I also heard that. and not necessarily a misheard lyric but always thought this was about us in the prem what with getting knocmed down and back up again and danny boy -
Macy Grey. I Try Sounds like she's singing: It's clear, I wear goggles when you are not near Listen to it, its obvious just mystified why she'd do that
Ha, I thought Ullo John's gotta new motor by Alexie Sayle had the line "he lost his bottle in Barnsley" I didn't miss hear it, it actually is in there. https://www.streetdirectory.com/lyricadvisor/song/uwpjaf/ullo_john_gotta_new_motor/
Just experienced another one: Rappers delight by Sugar Hill gang. I misheard the line 'I'll put tick-tick-tickles in your behind', as 'I'll put a little penis in your behind'.
