FFS, if you already haven’t then watch it. I’d heard and read stuff about this but wow. The outsourcing of contracts to these private companies and the interests of those close to Downing Street that ‘have ‘interest’ with these same companies is staggering. Then there’s the horrific goings on at that Lab in Northern Ireland where another Tory Mp is paid an annual £100k consultancy fee. Still people maintain the Tories are the only party to be trusted with the public purse eh. Cronyism and downright lack of transparency on unprecedented levels

Lies and corruption don’t seem to be as detrimental to a politician’s career prospects as they used to.

How some people can't see what's happening is unbelievable really. Can't see or won't see

I keep banging this drum; the greatest lie in modern politics is ‘they’re all as bad though’, which is basically a licence for any amount of corruption or depravity.

In the U.K. I’d say that this was really cemented in the MPs expenses scandal, a Tory paper completely undermining democracy to the ultimate benefit of their rich mates.

Not all that glitters is gold ;)

The Covid contracts just scratch the surface. They've been doing is with all government contracts. Yet no one wants to talk about the reality. Instead look at foreigners, foreign aid, socialists, snowflakes etc etc

We havent had a Government since the Covid powers were granted.

We currently live under an authoritarian/totalitarian governance who are free to do what ever the **** they want as there is no scrutiny or challenges from any but a few within their own party. And the lib dems.

I'd say the greatest lie in modern politics is that the saying 'They are all as bad' is too generalised.
Obviously there are some underhand dealings highlighted on this program, but it was designed to look specifically at a certain party.

So the real fact is that every single party will have a number of lets say 'bad eggs', but it would be wrong to point the finger at everyone. It's a bit like labelling all football fans hooligans because of the behaviour of an element.

I guess the Tories being the ones in power at the moment have those extra opportunities available to become these 'bad eggs'. Those not in power don't really have any authority in awarding government contracts etc, being my point.

If another party was in power, the focus would be more on their activities.

Believing that any party is squeaky clean is where the real ignorance lies.

So it is not taking that phrase of 'They are all as bad' out of context that is important. You mentioned the expenses scandal, this was across all parties. It's actions like these and other various scandals that have led to the generalised term being adopted by so many. Rightly or wrongly the electorate have become weary with the behaviour of our MP's, creating the disconnect and sweeping comments.

I believe there are probably many good people who have become MP's , who are still good people across the divides of all political colours.

Look at some of the comments on his board, people preaching tolerance, calling out others then making sweeping statements like all Tory MP's are scum or Labour MP's are anti-Semites. Both garbage throw away statements.

Judge individuals by their own actions.

There is challenge, it’s just not being reported in certain large press and media outlets. wonder why that is eh. As for scrutiny, when a PM or Party hold back the publishing of reports like this lot have it makes any scrutiny difficult.

If you've not watched the one about internet power consumption you should.

    Main points:
Don't post full-size images on social media, change your phone settings to the smallest image possible.
Don't use the cloud - it now uses more energy than the aviation industry.
Don't scroll endlessly on facebook (downloading images and videos).
Use wifi instead of 4g or 5g they use far more power.
One rack of data server and storage uses the same power as continuously boiling 10 kettles. Most data centres have hundreds of these.

One image uploaded by Christiano Ronaldo and viewed by his 239 Million followers uses Gigawatt hours of electricity.

Its an utter disgrace and future generations will look back with incredulity at why the majority of people weren't up in arms. Even more so, that some "normal" people actually defended this government, even if it only amounted to repeated "but Labour" whataboutery.

I could honestly stomach a competent Tory government with actual values and principles amounting to more than just cronyism and mates rates.

I’ll judge them and those that either support them or simply turn a blind eye and a deaf ear, and start spouting whatsboutery.actions. These actions are on an unprecedented scale.

The increase in electricity usage for Bitcoin mining use more energy than is generated by renewable sources...

I doubt that they are on an unprecedented scale. We just have a heightened awareness these days with the constant focus on governmental actions from Brexit, Covid etc.

Roll back past 20 years ago, we had no Internet or social media as such. Many things will have happened that have never been exposed like they can be now. Never before has a government had the focus like it has today. Obviously those complicit to shady dealings need calling out and it is mind boggling to think that under this increased focus they think that it won't be or don't care.

The scale of contracting out public services to the private sector is unprecedented. These contracts are unashamedly being awarded to Tory ‘friends’ even to companies that have previously failed. Johnson has directly appointed the husband of that Baroness Dido or whatever her name is to oversee transparency and fairness in awarding Govt contracts. Not unprecedented my arse
