Re Diamond: with full backs adding width, the defence is even more weakened, as the ball in behind into the space opens the defence up. So, 3-4-3 is what VI has decided. Disjointed maybe so far, but don't forget he's only been here a couple of weeks (up to the international break) plus the players are learning the new system and they are still young and consistency isn't always there. That's why they're playing for Barnsley and not for a PL team

In all honesty, I don't know what our best team is. When I watch Callum Styles, I think we've got an absolute diamond here. But then I watch the likes of James & Mowatt play and believe they should be starting. However, I'd also like to see Kane and Palmer playing, too. With the likes of Walton, Brittain, Sollbauer, Helik, Andersen, Williams, Oduor, Woodrow & Chaplin available for selection, as well, it's a problem I'm glad I don't have to solve.Perhaps VI can get more out of Frieser, Miller & Adeboyejo than others believe possible.
I'm a content Red at the moment and am really looking forward to these two upcoming home matches against Forest & Brentford.

Tough to say what our best 11 is at the minute! But I think Walton, Sole, Andersen, Helik, Brittain, Mowatt, James and Woodrows are undisputed.

    Walton
    Brittain Sole Helik Andersen Styles
    James Mowatt
    Frieser Woodrow Chaplin

J Williams is very unlucky to miss out though. I really rate Odour but you've got to fit Styles in somewhere - not sure Styles is the best defensively at lwb but he can't fit in the centre with Mowatt and James there.

I'd also like to see Palmer and Kane playing but no space for them either

Potentially can leave you exposed but it shouldn't necessarily do if played effectively. If one full back attacks then it's the job of the defensive mid and/or opposite full back to make it a back three/four when faced with a counter attack. And when facing a more sustained attack the defensive mid can drop in to make it a 5-3-2. But I take your point and I would worry about whether James and Kane are mobile enough to play a diamond. And yes Ismael hasn't really had much time to work with the team so I think a bit of disjointedness (that's not a word) can be expected. And although the football perhaps isn't as easy on the eye as it was under Struber, we are definitely creating more chances. I do think we need to get hold of a forward with a bit more pace and physical presence in January though if we are persisting with three up front. Not necessarily a target man type either as I think Woodrow's link up play in the central position has been good.

If James's contract runs out in the summer and he is now on loan at Oakwell then surely Leicester City are planning to move him on or he would be still in the Leicester Squad it's just my opinion like, if so we should do our damndest to sign him he's a proper footballer and along with Mowatt, Woodrow and Sol we have a very good base.

We are looking strong - in every position - except centre forward.
And it’s beyond frustrating that we are so near but so far away from being a top 6 side.
Just one player away - a player that can mix it up - hold the ball up and set our strikers and midfielders in on goal.
Struber could see that - and most of the fans can see that.
So why the hell hasn’t the directors brought one
or two players in to fill that spot !?!?!

We might lose James in January, which we can't do much about, but it would be insane to sell Mowatt. Coming towards the end of his contract or not.

Unpopular but I’d play the fridge over Chaplin, just think he puts himself abart more

Probably controversial. But I’d like to see Kane given the nod over James to start. The guy seems to have that presence and a calmness about him for me.
Much like James but with that extra bit of Steel.

I’m not sold on Chaplin & the jury’s still out on Frieser but we’re pretty limited in attacking areas & I’d rather play naturally attack minded players there than try to shoe horn Kane or Oduor into the front 3.

I don’t rate Anderson as much as most on here. There’s no doubt he’s improved but I still think he’s our most error prone player. I think Jordan Williams was excellent in the back 3 carrying the ball forward & I think Solbauer & Helik are better defenders so Anderson misses out. In fact I’d play Halme ahead of him as well but I appreciate I’m in a minority with that view.

    I know what you mean.

A couple of close calls TBH. Odour for J Williams would be another at certain times & I would also like to see Kane, but can't drop Mowatt or James at the minute. One or both of those may not be with us in January, so he'll get his chance sooner or later.

Not sure Ballotelli gets in this team. May be kane will have to sit out for him, he may have a playing clause or for shirt sales so I will give him a game.

Arguably our best 11, although I'd choose Williams over Oduor, but it's a bit of a crackers formation to put them in. Mowatt and Kane in a front three?
