I think my PC is kaput but I've ordered a USB video capture device (for my laptop) and I still have the VCR so it anyone wants any videos copying to MP4s I'll be happy to do them. Next time I'm at Oakwell I could collect them and send the MP4s either on a memory stick or via a web storage service or something. They would be straight copies with no frills and I can only play standard VHS tapes or camcorder tapes with an appropriate adaptor. There are some people local to me in South Derbyshire who want me to do it and I've said £5 per VHS tape - I wouldn't charge anyone on here though.

My vhs is a mini tv/video combi, and I still own around 20 tapes that I know I would struggle to get on DVD or blu Ray. Can’t say I’ve watched them for years though, just a hoarders comfort thing.:)

Yes Opticon 6, had them about 18 months along with the rest of the kit. Can't fault them.

Nice. Just upgraded my cart as well, and added a CD player. Sounds immense. Skint like.

I think it's called "carpet". Apparently it was all the rage before laminate flooring was invented. :D

See my reply to @Redhelen about copying VHS to MP4. If there's owt you really want copied I should be able to do it.

Funnily enough, only during lockdown have I learnt how to fix broken (i.e. snapped) VHS cassettes. I had more success than failure but I lost the first tape I tried to do. I've put them all onto MPG now and I'm slowly getting rid of the tapes.

On that notes, if anyone wants 35mm negs/slides or VHS converting to digital, let me know. Very competitive rates ;)

I've got a working VHS copy of 'A Season to Remember' from the 97 promotion season if anyone with a working VHS player wants to watch it by the way, happy to lend it out to anyone. Not sure if they ever re-made it for DVD etc

I had some VHS tapes transferred to disc - but many laptops now don't have anywhere to put the disc in!
Not sure about this but I think the latest is to have everything transferred to a memory stick (may have got this wrong) -

If you haven't done any already Brush, I wouldn't be too optimistic about knocking them out quick, capture devices I've used in the past tend to save the raw video as a huge Avi file, which then needs converting to Mp4 or DivX etc, that rendering process can take a long time...I'd experiment with a few short pieces before you start on Gone with the Wind.

Easily done assuming the discs are not scratched.
