Yes depending on the other options on the bench and the players on the field. Glad the gaffer chose victor over him today and in the derby game too though.
Know what you mean I saw him in the U23s playing alongside Brown and thought Victor looked the better prospect. Then in the senior game he had been disappointing. The last 2 appearances he looks like there is a player there after all. Scored the winner last game and heavily involved in the first goal today. And as everyone mentioned he has developed some strength. Hopefully he can continue and develop into a decent player for us
Agree. He’s definitely improving and made a difference when he came on. What’s really making the difference though is that our new manager isn’t afraid to make changes. I thought it was funny when the commentators were deliberating over Mowatt’s substitution as if it was a scandal. Personally I like Mowatt but was thinking prior to his substitution that he wasn’t having his usual impact. Both goals came after!
Think Alex has had a lot of pressure took off him with the introduction of James and Kane to the squad and the further improvement we are seeing from Styles. We now have a good set of midfielders rather than just relying on Mowatt and to some extent lately Ryan to drive us forward. Mustn`t forget Palmer also but he is one for the future at this moment in time.
Yeah, when they were getting Clarke ready to come on I was scratching my head a bit wondering who he was going to take off and when it was Mowatt I immediately thought it was the right call. I really rate Mowatt and he’s been brilliant for us since he came back from the loan spell but it just felt right for him to be subbed at that point of the game.
With regards to Alex Mowatt being subbed yesterday, I think it was a shrewd move by our Coach. In some recent games he has looked to have tired a little in the last fifteen minutes. Bringing him off against Forest underpinned the fact that it is a squad game and no one is guaranteed to start and finish every game. Good to see Victor getting involved. As others have said, there definitely is a player in there and hopefully he can improve as the season progresses. It will be very interesting to see who is brought in during the January window. We have definitely looked better due to the fact that IV has stuck to playing squad members in their natural positions. As if evidence were needed, to add to his late goal, Cauley was very unlucky not to score when he struck the bar, as was Conor of course. Agreed with Danny Cowleys comments on Quest last night re- Woodrow has to be one of the best No 9's currently playing in the Championship. He went off the boil under Struber, not because he'd lost interest but in all probability because he was asked to play in a position that really didn't suit him.
