I think it may be more like London house prices where the value rose due to shortage rather than because the owners added value.

Stop calling them owners theyre not the owners they haven't paid for the club in full yet until they do I will hold them in the same contempt that I do a thief because in essence that's what they are they have taken control / possession of Barnsley FC without paying for it in full and are seemingly refusing to pay what they owe.

When do owners of this or any club do that though?

Not often but then how often are clubs bought by new owners? It's rare. How often are they bought by owners who immediately tell everyone they won't be investing any money in the club? That is extremely rare.

It's rare but not uncommon. I'm sure most clubs would have changed hands in some form or other in the last few years.
So now you're telling us that they did state their intentions when they took over. Make your mind up

No they told us they wouldn't spend any of their own money. They never told us what the intention is.

Is it to make the club more valuable and sell it for profit?
Is it to get it he premier League and take the profits?

They've never explained their intentions, motivation or end game.

If I tell you I've bought a new car but I'm never putting any fuel in it you would be wondering why I'd bought the car. If someone then told you that I said I'm not putting fuel in it you would rightly say yeah but that's not an answer.

OK, but I'm saying it has always been this way. We live in an age nowadays where information is at our fingertips, 24 hours a day 365 days a year.

30 odd 40 years ago, we found out who was playing on a Saturday afternoon when they came running out at 2 minutes to 3. No idea about injuries etc. We found out if we'd bought anybody when we read the Chronicle on a Friday

I'm happy with a self sustaining club but I believe you can only go so far like that. A top coached self sustained championship side may challenge and reach the Premier League, but to stay their and not struggle would take more money than we could earn on our own.

That's exactly their goal. I wouldn't expect anything different and I'm OK with that. We get something to cheer on the way.

So because they don’t tell you what they’ve had for breakfast or how many sh1tes they’ve had you get kite on.......even if went up this season some of you would still dig them out, some of you made your minds up when they first come that you didn’t want them and your not changing it!! A still believe some fans have an issue with there origins tbh

The last few games have been great both in terms of the performances and the results. One of the few highlights in current weeks.

The idea that the grand plan is coming together, is one I hope is true and the club march up the league.

I’m still not a believer in the current owners as I still don’t know why they bought (agreed to buy) the club.

I’m going to enjoy the good performances and hope the owners have the long term success of the club as their aim.

I'm still not sure. I'm probably feeling more positive about the club than I have for ages (that's what a few quick wins will get you!), but the fact remains that the board were extraordinarily lucky to get away with what they pulled last season, and I personally don't feel like I saw enough this summer to be confident that they've learned their lesson.

I'm cautiously optimistic, but not yet convinced.

The owners have bought a business. Their intention is to make a return on their investment. They will do that by selling the business when they get an offer that gives them a reasonable return. They do not love the club as we fans love the club. Why would they? They were born in all of the four corners of the earth. What other reason could they have come together in the Barnsley project other than to make money. The only question that remains is how can they do that.

They have chosen a route that does not involve them investing any more of their money. That means that the club has to grow through sound investment, and very good decision-making. The club losses before player trading are about £1m per year. During the COVID crisis, those losses will have increased markedly. That money has to come from somewhere, and that is where part of our past player sales has gone, but that money will not last for ever. Do the owners cash in on players in a buyers market? Do the owners break their own resolve and introduce more of their own money? If they decide on the second course of action, who supplies the funds?

During their tenure, the club has been run on a budget, and it has been managed very effectively. On the playing side, things have not gone quite as straight forwardly, but surely, this is a question about how they have managed the company.

The test comes if we’re close to the play offs in January & they get offers for players under contract. Last time round they flogged Potts in January when he had 2 & a half years left on his deal. If they do the same again then as far as I’m concerned they’re still just here to make profits on players transfers.

I want to see some ambition & I don’t mean reckless spending or losing our best players on frees I just mean only selling when it suits us & having replacements lined up

I have always believed that the owners intentions are positive. It makes no sense to me that they would intentionally do anything to negatively impact the value of the club and I don't believe that they have taken any money out of the club. That's not to say they never will but it can't be done unless it's done properly and officially and so if it happens I'm confident we'll know about it.

My view was that they became too focused on the youth recruitment strategy and as has been extensively proposed by many (including me) on here ignored the importance of some experience. The reasons for that are perhaps irrelevant now as the signings of Sollbauer, Ritzmaier (albeit his performances were a let down), James and Woodrow's contract extension appear to demonstrate an adjustment to the approach. Re coach recruitment they have attracted some good coaches. Whilst Morais was disastrous, Stendel and Struber were good and there are some good early indicators regarding VI. On the playing side the squad now has great potential for the future and whilst there will be some departures I think the aim will be to achieve continued development. Having said that, not yet replacing Kieffer Moore is at present a failure.

My biggest concerns now are off the pitch. It's worrying that they haven't made the final(?) payment to complete the purchase, as are the reports about moving away from Oakwell. I hope both are quickly and amicably resolved. I'm also waiting to see if they are able to use their knowledge / contacts / acumen to grow the commercial side of the club. So far I haven't seen much evidence that we're making real progress with that.

If we aren’t calling the owners ‘owners’ - then what do we call them?
What about ...... those fookers that can use the executive cludgie.
Is that any good to thi ?

I invited you to a meeting ST . What was your answer. ?
A- “I’m not going to listen to lies” in a nutshell. Already made your mind up.

Give it a rest mate. Tha like a dog with a bone.

Or invite Mr Conway round for tea to Explain. Sure he’ll oblige. Unlike yourself given the chance. You turned the chance down.

Frightened of the answers or what. May not suit your agenda.

I’ve always believed the plan to buy youth, ambitious players is good one. Some will work some won’t. I have also been an advocate for adding experience to the squad. Something we seem to have done a bit this last year. But remember we are on the upward part of our sine wave. We go through these cycles of building and starting to look good. It usually is followed by a dismantling and players sold. The owners have made their intentions clear that they won’t put 1p of their money in so we just have to get used to this cycle. If we don’t see a down cycle and in fact strengthen and build on what we have then just then maybe I’ll believe in the board.

Whilst I don’t know how much of their own money (if any) they are putting into the running of the club.

All monies coming in, are said to be reinvested.

They bought the club using means at their disposal and are still in dispute over purchase of the bricks and mortar.

They look to get investment into the club through other means. Which includes people through the door, advertising. Sponsorship. Etc.

Let’s not forget they are not Patrick Cryne. In it for the love of it.
Not Chansiri either, throwing it all in. Desperate to get to the premier at the first attempt and putting the club in jeopardy. An insistence by the way of Patrick Cryne. That the club be not put at the risk of administration as happened before. Under John Denis’s era. ( caused by the collapse of ITV digital)

As I say. They didn’t come in cos they were fans of the club. They came in, to first make it sustainable and second to make money. To think anything differently is a bit naive.

They May not be popular amongst the fans. But no one else was rushing forward to take the club off Patrick. With his priority the future of the club being in safe hands so to speak.

I’m happy with that philosophy. I get the feeling some folk would prefer. Bolton’s, Wigan’s. Sunderland’s. Portsmouth’s. Coventry’s, Blackpool’s etc. Short term success. Long term wilderness.
    Not for me thanks.
