And now back from work. All I know is what I've been told by the manager of a hospital. When people arrive at hospital struggling to breathe, when the damage has already been done, the prognosis isn't good. When people are treated with mild breathing difficulties, with an oxygen mask and whatever drugs (she told me but I've forgotten), then very, very few reach the stage of requiring ventilation. The treatment doesn't kill the virus, it runs its course, but it appears to prevent the lung damage suffered by some people. They recover in a couple of days. Ask yourself a question, do you think, for any disease you've ever heard of, it's best to let it progress until you're close to death, or to treat it early? And with that in mind, why aren't you getting health advice from the government? Sure, you're told to wash your hands, how does that help you if you've got Covid-19 and can't breathe? Wouldn't you actually like to know what to do if you've got it an are suffering breathing problems? Do you think "go for a test" is enough? Wouldn't you like to know how to improve your chances? You improve your chances by getting treatment, but they've made damn sure people are too frightened to go and do that.
oh c'mon Jay..... how can any govt or region be blamed for COVID... thats what has caused the so called "loss of a year". Govt's, and not just the UK's, are acting on the advice from expert medical people. If the irresponsible tossers who are flouting social distancing.... organisin mass parties and gatherings had toes the line in the first place, then the situation would have been soooooo much better.. The reason the pandemic has escalated is due to the inconsiderate selfish bastads not only in the UK but the planet in general....... but HEY lets not let that in the way of a good old political post and Tory bashing Eh ?
I don't agree with your synopsis mate, I think you're completely wrong, but I'm really not interested in a row with you because I just don't want to fall out. Sorry for my flippant post. I think TM makes a salient point, but you're allowed to disagree. Can we leave it at that?
thankyou Jay. I have the utmost respect for you. I have not been able to get to Oakwell for many a year, but when I could I always sat as close to my old mate JLWBL. You sat ine very immediate viccinty too. I remember we got on well and had a lot of laughs. I too will not want to fall out with you too Sir. I guess we just have to agree to disagree on this topic....... BTW when are you getting the "Fun Boy 3 and Banarama" back on the road again......
I’m not saying that people shouldn’t go and get help quicker - clearly they absolutely should. However I don’t think the evidence is clear that all the government should have done is tell people to go to the hospital earlier. I don’t think that would have helped nearly enough to prevent the NHS from getting overloaded or otherwise protect lives. Maybe I’m wrong but it seems like a massive risk, one that I just can’t see paying off. Having said all this that I think people should get help quicker, thinking back, especially back in March, when the NHS was struggling for PPE having that many patients all together for milder symptoms would have caused absolute havoc, surely?
