Fair point. We’re all ‘shades of grey’. I thought you were coming at it from the other extreme; that criminality or 21 century judgements nullify all or any achievements of anyone.
I think he was meant to join Sheffield Utd at one point until Harry Harlem realised he’d never be able to replace Bob Hatton.
No one's claiming that he was perfect. Of course not, he had so many flaws and really screwed up his life. Was it all his own fault though? I bet no one here can even imagine the constant pressure that he was under for most of his adult life. Shooting at a bunch of annoying paparazzis with an air rifle hardly seems like the crime of the century. Drugs are bad (mmkay), but I guess you've never spared a thought for why he became a drug addict in the first place. A couple of months ago I remember you calling Lionel Messi "a horrible human being" for spitting at the direction of another player at the age of 20, so I suspect that you're just being bitter over something stupid. Leave the "horrible human being" for murderers and rapists and those who actually deserve it, not for someone who cheated in a game.
Mmmmmm.....bit difficult this one. On the one hand linekar would recognise his talent but on the other hand quite possibly he cheated linekar out of a world cup winners medal. He also compromised his own legacy with the 1994 antics. I think he has succinctly captured the ambivalence a lot of people feel, especially in this country.
You'll notice I never mentioned him cheating in a game. His handball was no worse than what a lot of players done.
I haven't seen anyone praising him for being a great person and flawless role model. He's being remembered for his ability as a footballer. He was a genius who took football to a completely different level. Just imagine what he would have been like in today's game, with the protection players have. He got the absolute $hit kicked out of him, game in game out.
It's the reasons I've listed above and not the made up things you're arrogantly guessing at for some strange fu.cking reason
So, having some family issues, becoming a drug addict for living under constant pressure for years, and shooting at some annoying paparazzis with a non-lethal weapon makes you a horrible human being? None of these are things to be proud of, of course, but a horrible human being? Really? That just doesn't make sense! How absolutely horrible your whole world must be, if something rather insignificant like that in the grand scheme of things truly is so horrible.
Bit of a party animal. Excellent footballer. One ofbthe best ever. Unfortunately did a lot of stupid stuff even at his older age. As stated above he's got loved ones and couldn't tell you what kind of guy he was apart from a party animal. R.i.p brilliant player
I don't think his patio laying skills gave pleasure to anywhere as near as many people as those who watched Maradona play football fir club and Country.
I think you're confusing a passing comment on a relevant event to me being sat here for the last 10 years crying thinking of him. But then you did just make a fu.cking bonkers claim that I disliked his behaviour because I'm racist
That's because I didn't believe for one second your claim about The Handball Goal not affecting your opinion on him at all... I mean, come on! I still honestly think that calling someone a horrible human being because of those few reasons that you listed isn't rational, so you're leaving out something.
