Sorry to hear this sad news Tarntyke. Sending you, and your family, my condolences and best wishes.

I lost my own Father aged 76 in 2018, he too brought me to Oakwell from around 1981 onwards. As much as I miss him, and I think it's a case of not getting over the loss but learning to live with it, my memories of him and Barnsley FC and the matches we saw together, home and away, are something that bring a smile to my face every day.

I hope you can draw some strength and spirit from those memories in the same way, now and in the weeks and months to come. To me they were priceless.

Sorry pal, worlds a lonely place when you lose your Dad. Lost mine to Alzheimer’s and it took a long while before I could remember the good times. It comes though, stick with it.

We sound to be of similar vintage Tarntyke and many of my memories of that magical era mirror yours. Always at my dad’s side watching the reds.

My dad turned 80 today and we hopefully have a few more memories in the making.

I sadly lost my brother to Covid last month and know what you must be going through. I wish you and your family all the very best for the future.

    Lovely words mate.

You've just described my relationship with my dad. Hope you're OK. You won't be for a while, but then, as your dad would want, you will be. You'll treasure your relationship with him forever and that's how he lives on. Here's to your dad. I'm raising a drink to him now. And to you. COME ON YOU REDS.
