Has to be Pele surely? And after that you have the greats from the different eras. Apparently when I was a little girl I thought he was called George the best! Loved Ronaldinho, Bergkamp was great when I saw him live. Barnsley i agree with Andy, has to be Redders, Hignett and Barnard.
Good shout le Tissier mate. But for his loyalty to Southampton . Had the big clubs at the time clamouring for his signature. Went missing a little during games fo me. Otherwise would have been on a level with Cruyff.
I only started watching football at the start of the 2000s. So... 1. Messi 2. Ronaldinho (he brought that style of football to the forefront in the 2000s) 3. Brazilian Ronaldo Best BFC players I've seen: 1. Hourihane 2. Hammill 3. Anderson de Silva
I’d go other way round lil only for the simple fact I don’t watch football like I used to. just preferring highlights. Eg MOTD (rarely) and Quest ( more often than not) . I Have sky sports but rarely if ever watch live football. And never for 90 minutes. So I know bugger all about players over the last 20 yrs or so. I’d seriously struggle to name more than a couple of players in the top premier league sides. None in some sides. No interest. Gave up watching England when boring Sven and them 2 buggers after him were in charge. Choosing only to watch in latter stages of competitions if England are involved. Hate football love Barnsley
For me I'm sticking with Maradona. Best player I've actually seen, has to be Messi. Got tickets when I was in Barca 10 years ago. Front three of Messi, Zlatan, Henry. Football from another planet for 90 minutes.
Hourihane. Another cheat. Not as good as Henry though at football. Maradonna was the best cheat. And the best player,. Ever. Can admin merge these threads about football and cheating?
My top Players not in order. Bobby Charlton. Pele. Jimmy Johnston. Alfredo Di Stefano. Duncan Edwards. Garrincha. George Best. Gordon Banks. John Charles. .
Agree with the opposition list in spades. I’ll never ever forget the performance of Prosinecki against us. It was like he’d used Bernards watch to stop everyone around him moving whilst he just did as he pleased. It was a masterclass.
[QUOTE=" On a serious note lil I thought Besty had no weaknesses either. [/QUOTE] I read this as 'Betsy' and thought for a good 10 seconds that we had a fan who never saw a weakness in Kevin Betsy. I guess picking only one would be difficult....
Le tissier was better than cantona in my opinion as he didnt have the luxury of playing in a top drawer side but produced fantastic football and more importantly goals consistently.
Different players for me. one with skills to die for. The other with skills and a presence that would scare the life out of me. But point taken.
I met him once. He was the speaker (with Rodney Marsh I think) at a do at Whitley Hall, some time in the late 80’s. I won the raffle and George presented me with an Adidas sports bag, which he then very graciously signed. As well as being the best player I’ve seen live, he was also a very intelligent, witty man.
